A fellow blogger commented that she might be overcompensating for wearing sweats with all of her recent dress purchases! If so, same here! Lol! I had to share this cute spring and summer flounce dress, either way.
The beauty of one-and-done dressing is just that–throw on a dress, add accessories, and you’re done! Such an easy, no-stress concept for getting dressed in the morning. And since this is the year of the dress, you may want to pick up a few even for casual wear. It’s just too easy.
The Cute Spring and Summer Flounce Dress Outfit
The Flounce Dress
Among the many dress styles available this spring, you may have noticed the plethora of what we used to call “prairie dresses.” You know, loose-fitting cotton dresses in ditzy florals. My friend Shelbee described the term ditzy in her post where she shared her version of this dress.
While the style looks SO cute on other gals, on me it just doesn’t work. A more tailored look is my usual dress of choice as it’s just more flattering on my shorter stature. Any of you out there feel that way?
That doesn’t mean, however, that I can’t partake of this trend in a modified way. For me, that means a slightly loose-fitting number in a shorter length with a flouncy hem. Like this super cute spring and summer flounce dress!
This flounce dress is one of those Amazon finds that worked out. I’m fairly conservative in purchasing fashion pieces from Amazon, but they truly are a good place to pick up cute little dresses, basic tops, and swim coverups. (Watch for a post on that topic soon!)
The fabric is described as knit, made of polyester and spandex. It’s actually has a lightweight silky feel, which works well with the flounce hem, allowing it to move easily as you walk. It’s not at all see-through–a big point for spring and summer wear.
It’s the kind of dress you can style casually for a beach party or pool party, date night, a casual wedding, and will be perfect for vacation! (Hello Hawaii!)
As you might expect, the dress comes in lots of colors and patterns. It’s also available in a sleeveless and long-sleeve version.
For this casual look I’m styling, I wore it with my new Skyler Tan Sandals. These fun sandals are the “IT” shoes for spring. I choose the slide version with pyramid studs, but you can also choose them in regular sandals (with heel and ankle straps).
You can get them in tan with studs, like mine, clear with rhinestones, or snakeskin with studs. They are all super comfy and perfect sandals for spring and summer with almost anything you might wear.
The Tan Tip
Are you leery of styling a dress or shorts this season? If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that my mantra is “Wear Your Shorts!” I truly believe that we can show our legs, regardless of flaws, at any age. And mine have lots of what I call battle scars! Lol! Scars and stitches from sliding down a gravel hill while hiking, scraping my knees falling off my street bike, and my latest scars where my e-bike fell over on me! Yikes! Hey, those things are 80 pounds and it took me a little while to manage it!
In any case, if you don’t want to show your whiteness or scars, try a little subtle tanner. I don’t really go for some of the self-tanners that just don’t look natural, but I’ve found a product I like and that works for me: Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. The lotion adds just a touch of color and works as your moisturizer, too! I use the Medium to Deep, but there is also a Fair to Medium lotion. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
If you are looking for a cute spring and summer dress to pick up right now, give this flouncy dress a try. You’ll not only be trendy, but you’ll also look and feel cute and comfortable.
