We tend to think of fall in shades of yellows and reds, but green shades are a big part of the fall color scheme. Today I’m sharing a fresh fall outfit idea in jasper green.
As the ad for Chicos states: From jade to jasper, olive to teal, there are so many ways to wear fall’s chicest shade. True enough! Not too long ago, I discovered I didn’t have a lot of green items in my wardrobe, and as it’s my favorite color, I decided to remedy that!
The only new items in today’s look are the tank top and the handbag. I love it when you can add a piece and create a fresh new look!
Fresh Fall Outfit
An intense shade like this jasper green is such a fresh new look for fall. It’s a shade that goes well with many other colors, too.
Ever wondered where the color word jasper comes from? You know that I often share my findings as I have to satisfy my curiosity on the background of these fashion terms and color names. It turns out that jasper is a stone. How many of you already knew that? I sure didn’t!
Here is the description from mineral.net:
Jasper is an opaque variety of Chalcedony*, and is usually associated with brown, yellow, or reddish colors, but may be used to describe other opaque colors of Chalcedony such as dark or mottled green, orange, and black. Jasper is almost always multicolored, with unique color patterns and habits.
*Chalcedony is a type of quartz.
This tank top in a tonal dot print certainly fits that description! I love it that fashion, like all art, mimics nature.
The Tank Top and Jacket
This is an easy fitting tank top in a slightly longer length–so easy to wear out over your favorite jeans or trousers. Of course, it can also be tucked in in a partial or full tuck–in whatever way you like to wear it.
The green-blue tonal effect makes jeans the perfect pairing for this top, but you could easily substitute a navy pencil skirt, slacks, or cropped wide-leg pants for a professional or more dressed up look.
Here I’m styling a knit blazer in a navy peacoat color, an older piece that gets a lot of wear. But there is an absolutely gorgeous faux leather jacket in jasper green available at Chico’s. It is truly stunning, and while it’s tempting, I am holding back for now. (As a moto jacket aficionado, it’s hard to say no to this cute version. It also comes in cream and black.)
I’m showing several coordinating pieces below.
The Handbag
Quilted leather bags are super popular right now, as are chain straps. While these bags can be very pricey, they are classic pieces that are worth the investment as you will reach for them time and time again and they will never go out of style. The quality workmanship will hold up and a bag like this will last a long time.
I was able to pick mine up at an amazing price when Nordstrom was doing a “Price Matching” that last for a very short period of time. If you are a cardholder, you will get emails announcing these events where you can find items that are price matched to other stores’ sales and prices.
The bag is a tote bag style so is slightly larger than my usual preference, but it will hold a lot. The chain straps are woven with leather straps making it more comfortable as a shoulder bag. I am super happy with this purchase–my one luxury bag for the year!
Here are some more quilted handbags at various price points and in different sizes, from totes to shoulder bags:
If you are looking for a fresh fall outfit, try something in green! A bold green top or jacket can add instant interest to any outfit.
I’m in love with the jasper green top. It goes very well with blue. The quilted bag is very catchy.

Green is my favorite color, too, and except for olive green, I don’t have much of it in my closet. Must fix that!! Haha! Thanks, my friend.
