Happy Friday, everyone! With this warm summer weather, it is definitely time to bring out the shorts! Believe me, taking photos of myself in shorts is not my favorite thing, but for hot weather, none of us should hesitate to dress comfortably. You can still look stylish and dress for warm weather. Don’t be afraid of your “flaws”–none of us has a model perfect body (not even the models!)–and dress for YOU!!
For today’s post, I am styling a cute olive boho off-shoulder top. I have to tell you that I picked it up a few months ago off the Final Clearance rack at TJ Maxx for $4! So, yes, you can still dress cute without breaking the bank! And for trending items, it is probably a good idea to look for buys or steals, since you don’t know how long they will be in style.
Shorts come in many styles, and I think I have a version of most or all of them! There are cut-offs, jean shorts, bermudas, frayed hem, athletic, cargo, and boardshorts to name just a few. The shorts I am styling here are traditional bermuda shorts, which typically hit near the knee.
What is your favorite type of shorts? This pair is an oldie but goodie version from Talbots. Again, their sizing is always consistent and I can get my pants and shorts in petite so I don’t have to do any hemming. Yay!
The sandals are by Dolce Vita from last summer. Thankfully, all types of sandals are popular this season and this woven ankle sandal is still on trend. And they are super comfortable! I bought mine at my favorite little shoe store in Laguna Beach, but you can find this brand at Nordstrom and other fine stores.
The top is made of a cotton-jersey fabric and is super cool and comfortable. To keep cool, I pinned my hair up in a half-up, half down style. Easy to do–I just used bobby pins in the back. I have done it before with a snap-closed barrette as well.
I added simple dark green earrings and a cool green stone bracelet I bought in Old Towne Leland in Northern Michigan last summer. I love to keep and wear pieces of jewelry that mean something and give you a happy memory when you put them on, don’t you?
Have a little fun with your clothes this weekend and step out in those shorts!! As a friend once told me, “These are my legs. I’ve had to wear them and see them, and everybody else will have to do the same!” Don’t you love that philosophy? LOL
Thanks for supporting my blog and I hope you will subscribe if you haven’t yet done so.
I hope you will check back in on Monday.
