Say hello to the first day of winter!! Even though many parts of the country have already had cold and snow! We are expecting a rainy Christmas week here in Southern California, so I really can’t complain too much about winter. As far as what to wear for this season, I’m styling a red puffy vest outfit that is perfect!
Aren’t these warm puffy items perfect? They’re no longer just designed to keep us warm, but they come in so many colors and patterns. And these little vests are a great layer on a cold day! Best of all, they are on sale all over the place!
Do you have a puffy vest? Here’s one idea for a red puffy vest outfit.
The Red Puffy Vest Outfit
The Puffy Vest and Jeans
A puffy vest is an easy choice when you are looking for warmth but don’t need a coat. It’s simple to layer and you can create lots of looks by layering one with different pieces. You can also do a bit of pattern mixing with a puffy vest for a little extra interest. Here it’s styled simply with a contrasting scarf and hat.
One of my favorite sources for winter outerwear is Lands End. I’ve been a customer forever, and if you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve seen cotton tees and sweaters from Lands End frequently. They are my go-to for swimwear, too!
You can pick up a puffy vest almost anywhere, but my pick is this puffy vest from LE. Here are some other very cute options:
Once again, I’m sharing my favorite bootcut jeans from Wit & Wisdom. They have a high-ish waist and a barely bootcut style, meaning you have just the right amount of flare in the leg. I’m forever envious of my taller friends who can wear a full bootcut or even a bell-bottom style jean!
Booties or boots are a natural choice for a winter outfit. These are the super comfy wedge booties from Vionic, currently on sale! Of course, when I picked mine up, they were NOT on sale. Typical for me. How about you”
There are many ways to accentuate red clothing. You may recall my post A Red Sweater Dress for the Holidays and Beyond where I styled the dress more casually with black riding boots and a plaid scarf. And not just any plaid but a red-and-black buffalo plaid scarf that I’ve styled with this red vest for a cute and casual look.
Speaking of cute, have you tried a buffalo plaid print beanie? This “Happy Cloud” beanie version is super cute and very inexpensive and looks adorable with the vest and scarf!
Bring on the Heat
If you haven’t tried these layering tops from 32°, you really have to check them out! While I’m a bit of a cold wimp–by virtue of living in a moderate climate–I wear them for cold mornings and evenings and for our trips to the mountains, only two hours away. They fit snuggly so make a perfect base layer. You can see I’m wearing mine like a tee in this outfit.
A puffy vest outfit makes the perfect look for the first day of winter, don’t you agree? Pick up some bootcut jeans, a warm layering top, and some buffalo plaid accessories for a super cute look. Enjoy the season and dress warm!
