Even with fall in the air (um, not here, but many of you reading this are already mentioning a hint of fall weather where you live), a pop of color is welcome on a sunny day. And this red kimono does a great job providing some fall color. Think apples. Or berries.
Kimonos made a BIG comeback a couple of years ago. And guess what? They are still extremely popular! They add some pizazz to an otherwise boring outfit and provide a bit of warmth at the same time.
The Red Kimono
You can tell I love kimonos as I’ve styled them a few times before. (Like Palm Leaf Kimono for Summer, Three Ways to Style a Floral Kimono Top, and Style a Kimono for Valentine’s Day. Whew!) But I have not had a vivid red one like this. I was inspired by a fellow blogger, Shelbee, who wore hers like a crossover dress and it looked SO cute! (Check out her post A Kimono Story here.) And red? Gotta love it.
This adorable red kimono is swirling with zinnia blooms and short dolman sleeves. So you can easily wear a sleeveless or short sleeve tee as well as a long sleeve top or dress under it. The fabric is 100% Modal and is machine washable, which I personally love.
The best news? It’s from Loft who is selling everything at over 60% off. (I believe it’s because they are filing for bankruptcy, which is very sad for the many folks who work there.) So the price is amazingly low.
The Outfit
Red always looks great with denim, and a red kimono looks especially cute with a pair of funky jeans like these. I am loving the cropped length and the slight flare with the “deconstructed hem.”
These jeans are from Loft so are very marked down in price. They are advertised as having “extra slimming and stretchy pockets – that magically hold you in for an irresistibly flattering finish!” Well, who doesn’t want that?! Lol! the denim really is super soft and stretchy but holds its shape. As this time, with our last gasp of summer, they are my favorite jeans.
They come in “modern” and “curvy” fit as well as regular and petite sizing.
Cami tops are so versatile! I recently styled a floral version of this cami top in the post Duster Length Cardigan for Fall Style. I like it so much, I also bought it in white and black. This white cami with lace at the neck is perfect to wear under so many things, or even all by itself, dressed up or down. While mine were specially priced for the Nordstrom Sale, they are still worth purchasing even at the regular price, as you will get lots of use from them.
Wrap bracelets are all the rage, and they can really add some style to an outfit! These are freshwater pearls on black so they really stand out!

I was totally tempted to wear my low slingback pumps, in red of course, but decided instead on these white kitten heel booties. White booties continue to trend this fall. I’ve had mine for a couple of years and find lots of things to wear them with. Here are some similar white booties:
Do you have a red kimono–or any other color–in your closet? Pull it out and think of the many ways you can style it for fall. And if you have one in red, all the better!
I just did a big shopping spree at LOFT a couple of weeks ago. They are closing most of the Torrid stores but overall very few LOFT & Ann Taylor ones which is good. I have not seen this stunning kimono – which I need because it is in my style – but I knew it was from there just by knowing how LOFT’s styles look lol.
You look so cute in it with your adorable white booties. Also, looking forward to our wedding collaboration post, next month!
Enjoy the weekend Darlene!!
This red kimono does say you, Ada!! I think we are all able to identify where some of these things come from by now, can’t we? Lol! I’m looking forward to our wedding collaboration! It will be fun to dress up and imagine going out! Have a great weekend.

I love it! I bought some cute fall pieces from Loft this summer during one of their sales. I love the different shoes: makes this outfit even more fun!

Thanks, sweet Mireille! Loft has had some crazy buys, haven’t they? I look for any excuse to style these white booties!

Aw, Darlene, thanks so much for the shout out! You know I have a red kimono in my closet! In fact I think I have two or three different ones in red. It is such a dramatic color and so pretty on a dramatic kimono. I am loving this look on you so much! The destructed jeans with the kitten heel white booties are super cool together as well. Really fantastic styling, my friend. Thanks for linking up!

Thanks, Shelbee. I couldn’t even think about styling a red kimono without thinking about your cute ones! Ever since I saw that last one, I was on the hunt for a red one!! Have a great week, my friend.

Loving those white kitten heel boots! The vivid red kimono is gorgeous too. It’s strangely not a “thing” over here, dusters and kimonos, so you have to search quite hard to find them! Thanks for linking up at #WowOnWednesday.
I knew you would like the boots! I’m trying–and failing–to keep up with you! Lol! You have such an amazing collection of boots, Gail! I love this kimono trend as it’s a mix of casual and elegant. I’ll bet you can find some things online and start a trend in the UK!!

Lovely kimono, Darlene! I have a red one, and a green one on the way. Although it’s far too early for kimonos here in Vegas.
Ah, so you’re in Vegas! Yes, it’s going to be pretty warm there for a while, right? Thanks, Michelle. I’ll watch to see how you style yours! Have a great week.
