Today I’m talking about affordable fashion. There are some basic wardrobe pieces that you want to pay more for, classic pieces that will last–like a quality blazer or handbag or pair of shoes, or even your best-fitting jeans. But for trending or seasonal items, you may just want to try them out or have fun with a new look. For those pieces, you really don’t want to spend a great deal of money. And stores and brands are really stepping up to the plate–you can find some fairly high-quality items at affordable prices, so you can look your very best in the current trends. Stores include Target, Old Navy, even WalMart for some things! and a number of online venues like Lulu’s.
Today I’m sharing some great finds from Target. I wrote an earlier post about their WhoWhatWear line and there are some really cute pieces in that line. Remember these?
And this “Insert Coffee” tank in burgundy–inexpensive and fun! Also from Target.
Their newest line, A New Day, has lots of trending items. They are fun and flattering, a decent quality, and the prices are affordable. What’s not to like?
Menswear-inspired looks are hot this Fall. As evidenced by this plaid boyfriend blazer. Target got it right with this super stylish blazer! It’s gray, a popular color again this Fall, and has a nice plaid with a touch of burgundy.
The trick with less expensive pieces is to add one element to your outfit that is from the higher-end. That could be your jeans, your bag, or even a bracelet or earrings. In this case, I added my designer jeans, by Paige. I really like the higher waist (holds the tummy in!), and the uneven hem. At first I thought the hem was a bit weird, but quickly noticed it allows me to wear them with high and low-heeled shoe styles, which is great! And while they are skinny jeans, they have enough stretch to keep them comfortable.
The best way to style a menswear jacket is to layer in easy pieces like denim or a white shirt. It’s easy to do since you already have these pieces and they give your outfit just the right touch. For today’s post, I added an older burgundy tank top–I have them in several colors–as I wanted to bring out that color in the plaid. Here is a similar tank top--I wore these a lot under blazers for work wear.
I am loving these shoes from Sole Society! They are a moderately priced brand and they have lots of cute and trendy items in shoes, bags and even clothing items. I had been looking for some ankle strap shoes in a lower heel and these were just right! The block heel and ankle strap are cute and trendy and the pointy toe is surprisingly comfortable. They come in several colors, including an animal print that is is really fun.
I encourage you to check out some of these affordable stores as there are great finds to be had! They can really help to round out your wardrobe without breaking your budget.
