Sundresses are the epitome of summer style. They don’t have to be overly fussy. A summer dress just has to convey that it’s warm weather, with features like spaghetti straps, a high waist, and a breezy print. That’s exactly why this boho sundress is perfect for summer.
Since a sundress isn’t something you can wear all year, you don’t need to spend a great deal to purchase one. You can pick up any number of cute little dresses at inexpensive stores that you can wear for the rest of the summer and possibly next year. This is a good thing when styles change or you just need a change of pace from one summer season to the next.
Now, about that geometric print sundress…
The Boho Sundress
One of the best things about blogging is connecting with other bloggers. The best way to do this is through Link Up Parties. These are style events sponsored by various bloggers who schedule weekly Link parties where many of us go to share our latest or greatest posts. While posting our own style of the week there, it’s fun to see what all the other ladies are styling. This is where I came across Jill from Doused in Pink.
Her post, What to Wear to a Graduation, is the inspiration for today’s boho sundress. When I saw it, I was intrigued. What–something different?! A print that’s not floral? Bold colors? And wow, a geometric print?!! Fantastic!! So, I followed her affiliate link only to find that this dress is from Amazon. What that basically means is that it’s very affordable, yet cute enough to wear. All it needed were a few basic accessories.
My take on this dress is to style it very casually. It’s simple enough to wear to a beach picnic but can also be dressed up enough for a summer party.
You can see all the details on the dress. The spaghetti straps. Smocked top with ruffle. Self-belt. A-line shape. Midi length. With pockets!! Always love that detail, don’t we ladies?!
This particular style of boho sundress comes in 18 colors and patterns (I know–that’s crazy, isn’t it?!) with some slight variations in the details for some of the patterns. And there are many similar sundresses to be found! Here are just a few:
The Accessories
To keep the look casual, I styled the sundress with black wedge sandals. These are also an Amazon find. They have just enough height to be cute yet still be comfortable. A black band around the crown of my favorite fedora emphasizes the black splashes on the dress. After lots of consideration, I added this older red clutch to bring out the red in the fabric.
