Have you had enough of animal print yet? I doubt it!! We are all going over-the-top for this print because of its versatility. It literally goes with just about anything. Today I’m styling my animal print fashion with another fall fashion essential: the denim skirt.
We all love our jeans, right? Though the style and fits have changed through the years, I’ve been wearing jeans for most of my life. And that’s no small amount of time, I tell you! Haha! A great change of pace, however, is the denim skirt.
In an earlier post, I talked about how we used to make our own denim skirts–back in the day! We would cut the legs off a pair of jeans and add pieces of denim from the legs or from any other pair of jeans and sew them together to create a patchwork of denim. They were so fun! If only I’d kept mine, I would have a vintage piece!! Lol! I could be styling it today for this post. Well, provided it still fit. Um, moving on…
Let’s move on to today’s outfit…
The Animal Print Cardigan & Denim Skirt Outfit for Fall
A denim skirt offers a great way to wear denim year round. Too warm for long jeans? Try a denim skirt with a tee and sandals. Cold outside? Try a denim skirt with boots and tights and a big cozy sweater. In between? Try this outfit: a denim skirt with short boots, a turtleneck, and an animal print cardigan. It’s just right for a cool, breezy day!
I’ll bet you have an animal print cardigan in your wardrobe, right? They are SO popular and you can find them anywhere this fall. Mine is several years old, originally by Soma for Chico, and I definitely got my money’s worth out of it. To be honest, I had a hard time finding anything similar to share with you!! This print is quickly being sold out! Yikes!

This just goes to show you that some prints are classic–animal prints have been around a long time and continue to trend every fall. And Summer…and Spring…and Winter. You get the picture.
I love the reddish browns in this cardigan and decided to play up those tones by wearing my short brown boots. The boots are a leather pair by Lands End, also several years old. They are a deep brown with red tones, which made them look fabulous with my burgundy bag from last year. Sole Society makes a very cool short boot in several colors and you can see it here. I may have to pick up a pair of the navy or army–they are SO cute and funky!
The turtleneck is another one from A New Day from Target that I told you about in this post styling my checkered trousers. These elbow-sleeve turtlenecks are perfect layering pieces. I have them in every color!
Of course, you know I love tortoiseshell and these resin and gold hoops look just right with this animal print cardigan.
Fall is Here!
Yes, we do have Fall in Southern California! We deliberately took these by a birch tree that is going through the fall color change. Even though the temperature is moderate, the changing leaves make your brain think it’s cold and crisp! I just wanted to flaunt some of the colors in our neighborhood.
I’m sure you are all in the midst of preparing for Thanksgiving Day with the people you care most about. How about an animal print cardigan and denim skirt this year? You’ll be comfy and cozy for the day of feasting and watching football games. (I can hear some of you say, “Ugh,” even from here!) Whatever you do to say thanks, enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Darlene
This is sweet. I love animal print! To me, leopard never gets old, if it is well made. The cardi is adorbale with your jean skirt. I finally found a jean skirt last year, after searching for awhile. Yours is a nice length and looks great!

Hi Jess,
I know–we just can’t get enough leopard this year, can we? Or cheetah, or snake or whatever!! This is an older sweater but it really never goes out of style.
Thanks for the nice comments,
xx Darlene
I love denim skirts a lot. And leopard print! So this is great outfit to me!
Thanks, Nancy. Can’t go wrong with denim and animal print, right?
Have a wonderful week!
xx Darlene
