If you are looking for something different for your holiday party this year, take a look at this billowing sleeves top. It’s done in a classic style with a button front and tie neck, but the fluid fabric in silver punches it up.
In case you’re wondering about the term “billowing,” it comes from billow which is a large wave. Billowing then means moving in a way similar to large waves. When you see the movement in these sleeves, it will make perfect sense to you!
The Billowy Sleeves Top Outfit
The Billowing Sleeves Blouse
The full balloon sleeves give this billowing sleeves top a touch of romance. As always, details make the piece.
This is the kind of blouse that is so versatile as it can be styled in so many ways. While I’ve styled it here with jeans, you could easily wear it with black slacks. It would look amazing with a pencil skirt and tights, too. On some of my tall, thin, friends, you could style it with a full pleated skirt as well. Regardless of how you wear it, it will get attention.
There’s just something about silver that says festive. To keep the focus on the top, I’ve styled it with basic black, but there is also a skirt that you can pick up for a two-piece dress look. Both pieces are by WhoWhatWear for Target, so not only are these pieces stylish and unique, they are very affordable.
Wouldn’t this be a spectacular top for your New Year’s Eve celebration?
The Pants and Accessories
While a pair of velvet or corduroy pants would look amazing with this billowing sleeve top, I chose a pair of contrasting black jeans in a coated black fabric that gives off a faux leather vibe. I liked the fluid silver against the coated matte black fabric as it gives this look a bit of an edgy feel. This pair is VERY inexpensive and has just enough stretch to fit comfortably.
Of course, if you are a NYDJ fan and like that fit best, you can pick up a similar pair of coated jeans by NYDJ. Both have a slightly higher waist, which is very flattering.
You’ve seen these open-toe booties before. They are just right for a cool California day–or an indoor party in colder climates. Since they are from Clarks, they are well-made and comfortable.
Two-tone druzy-style earrings add some bling and mirror both the gray and silver in the outfit. A thin silver belt picks up the silver in the clutch bag.
I’ve linked all the pieces in the shop display below. However, the bag link is a similar one–not exact–as my marbled version is several years old. An elegant clutch for evening events is worth holding onto. You don’t use them that often, but want to have one or two at the ready in your closet for the times you might need it.

Once again, this outfit is proof that you don’t need to break the bank to show some style this holiday season! By adding a little bling, you can turn some basic pieces into festive holiday fashion!
