Who says we have to wear dark colors in the winter? Admittedly, there are days when a basic black outfit just feels right, but on those long gray days, we need to perk things up. How about a bold floral print dress for a dreary winter day?
And I do mean bold. Orange is one of those colors that always stands out. While it’s usually a color I choose in the summer months, it can also look amazing in the winter. And in a bold print, it can be super eye-catching. So, on that day that you really want to stand out, this just might be the dress for you.
The Bold Floral Print Dress Outfit
When I first saw this dress, I kind of passed it by, thinking I was looking for something in a neutral for the winter. My eyes kept going back to it, however, causing a second look. Does that ever happen to you? At first, you think, Nah, but then you are somehow drawn to something? That’s exactly what happened here.
As I say, I don’t usually wear bright orange in the colder months. Mostly because there is an unwritten rule somewhere that you need to be nice and tan to wear a color like this. In other words, unless you have a lovely dark complexion, a color like this is only for summer. But, hey, I started this blog so I could step outside my own limited clothing box and dare to be different, right?. This is the kind of dress that does just that.
The print looks like navy but is actually black. My old Flushing High School orange and black colors!
This is a simply styled dress. With a high round neck, short sleeves, and a straight shape. The sleeves and neck have a stretchy band that causes the sleeves to bell a little which is so cute. It came with a self-tie belt as I’ve styled it here, but it would look super cute with a wide leather belt or an obi belt.
This is a dress you can wear now with boots and a jacket and later with sandals and a hat. Love that! And this bold floral print dress is under $40! It also comes in a black floral print if you just cannot do this bright version! Haha!
Remember the over-the-knee boots that were so hot two or three years ago? It took me a while to buy into that trend, but once I did, I found these boots to be both comfortable and versatile. Do you have a pair in your closet? Style them with a dress or skirt. They lie nicely above the knee and don’t catch on the hem creating a nice, smooth line. Even though knee and mid-calf boots are popular now, those OTK boots can really come in handy! Especially for winter outfits where they help keep your legs warm. And they hide those winter-white legs!! Lol!
Accessories and Coat
Accessories are super easy with a dress and boots outfit. Black and gold drop earrings and an older cuff bracelet in the same colors and the outfit is complete. Except for the coat! I chose my leather moto jacket for this look as I like the bit of edginess it provides to this otherwise classically-styled dress. In my climate, this is generally warm enough, but you could just as easily add a cute puffy or faux fur coat for extra warmth.
The beauty of wearing a dress is how simple is to put together an outfit. Just pull it on, add shoes, a bag, and maybe a coat, and you’re done! Easy peasy on a winter day.
