Having moved on from Living Coral fashion, it’s still fair to say that color is making a big statement in fashion for spring and summer this year. While it’s true that colorful outfit styles crop up every spring, there are so many colors in the Pantone Palette that are bright and colorful. And this was certainly reflected in the spring and summer runway shows.
So, today I’m sharing my version of colorful spring fashion. No, you probably won’t see this on any runway! Haha! But it does display my interpretation of spring color in an outfit that anyone can wear. And that’s really what fashion is all about for us “real” people, right?
Speaking of real people, the items that make up this colorful outfit are all from affordable “fashion houses”–like Gap, Old Navy, Sole Society, and Target. Read on to find out more…
The Casual, Colorful Outfit for Spring 2019
The striped top and ankle pants
Do you shop online, or are you still a hands-on shopper? I actually went into a Gap store at the mall the other day. Something a bit rare for me as I’ve truly become an online shopper! I have to admit, it’s nice to actually see things in person.
To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have been interested in this striped top online but when I saw it hanging on a manikin, I knew it would work for me.
Stripe Boatneck Tee (on sale in several colors, so hurry!)
The colors are perfect for spring and reflect many of the 12 the Pantone shades I mentioned in the post Spring Forward: Living Coral Sweater. The top has Ultramarine Blue, mustard yellow (or Mango Mojito according to Pantone), an orange shade (Fiesta), and a reddish shade reminiscent of Jester Red. So, how about that?
The beauty of a multi-color stripe top is the ability to wear it with so many colors. Of course, this top would look fab with jeans–either light or dark wash. Pairing it with these ultramarine (or vibrant blue, if you like) ankle pants was also an easy choice.
As is typical in the spring (though the official first day of spring is March 20th), it’s still on the chilly side, so a jacket of some sort is in order. And what could be better than our good old denim jacket? This inexpensive one is still my all-time favorite.
The accessories
Having cleared up the issue of whether or not shoes are an accessory (they are, according to fashion sources), this particular accessory is a game-changer for this casual outfit. Leather or suede flats with a pointy toe have become a classic, and these elevate them to a stylish shoe with the addition of the stacked heel.
Pointy-toe Heeled Loafers (3 colors)
The casual heel makes them appropriate for casual outfits, like shorts outfits, jeans, or slacks, as well as skirts and dresses. They would be especially stylish with a suit in the workplace. The mustard or gold or whatever color you want to call it is great for spring, as this shade is almost a neutral. I’ll be styling them with a multi-colored dress in the next week or so.
The white marbled hoops are by Sugarfix–an inexpensive version of Baublebar.
Are you ready for spring? It’s time to start evaluating your wardrobe needs in anticipation, and the inexpensive pieces in this colorful outfit are a good place to start.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!
I love your blue pants.
Thanks, Haley! The vibrant blue is so fun for spring! And the price is right on, as these are the popular pixie pants from Old Navy. Check them out!
