With our new almost-constant casual lifestyle, I find myself reaching for outfits that are comfy yet still have a little style. This denim jacket outfit is perfect for fall and for wearing most any day.
Of course, a denim jacket looks good with almost anything and definitely adds some style to your outfit whether it’s a dress, a skirt, shorts, jeans or pants, you just can’t do it wrong. I have several different styles and colors and find they are an easy go-to whenever I need a little warmth or something to up my look. I’ll bet you do the same!
Denim Jacket Outfit
Oversized blouses are a big trend right now. You know, the kind with dropped, slouchy shoulders and a longer length with long, full sleeves and cuffs. They are often called a “boyfriend” shirt as they resemble shirts our men wear for dress.
However, since one always has to try and evaluate these trends to see if they work for us, right? We don’t just wear something because it’s “on-trend.” But we can incorporate similar styles that work for our body type.
While I tried an oversize white tunic shirt, it was just too much on my smaller frame. Darn! It looked so good on the model! For me, I had to go with a slightly more fitted white shirt.
One can’t go wrong with too many white shirts anyway, right? How many do you have in your closet? In any case, this one is a slightly shiny fabric in a longer length with a placket front for a nice finish. I got a similar look without too much bulk.
These “deep-sea navy houndstooth” slim leg pants are super comfortable making them perfect for every day. They are part of the “Starfish Collection” from Lands End and a favorite for easy pull-on pants. They come in a couple of prints and several solid colors.
I have shopped at Lands End for years and am a big fan of their cotton sweaters. You can see a yellow “Drifter” style in the post Pattern Mixing with Black and Yellow.
Lands End always has amazing sales and you can shop now at 40% off!
To add a little variety to my jacket collection, I picked up this collarless “Heritage Jacket” from Chico’s last year. It has a slightly longer length in a nice dark wash that adds a little different look to your outfit.
Wearing a jacket that is collarless goes well with a collared shirt or blouse and doesn’t add too much bulk at the neck.
I styled this jacket with a skirt in the post Transitional Outfit: Floral Tiered Midi Skirt.
The Tote and Sneakers
Well known for their canvas totes (they can be monogrammed and come in lots of sizes and colors!), they recently added this quilted tote that I use all the time. Mine is camel and it also comes in burgundy and black. These bags are great for almost anything. I plan to use it sometime in the future when we can travel again!
These bags make great holiday gifts, and it’s really NOT too early to start thinking about that!
To tie in with the bag, these water-resistant wedge sneakers are the perfect finish to this casual look!
