Happy November, all! Can anybody explain why the first three-quarters of 2020 were super S.L.O.W. and time is now flying by? Must be the holiday inertia, right? So it’s time to plan ahead. First up: How to style a casual Thanksgiving outfit.
I’m thrilled to be co-hosting Ada’s weekly Link Party this week. Her blog, Elegance and Mommyhood is full of fashion ideas for herself and her adorable daughter Vivien. Given that this year is a bit different–to say the least–we decided to go with our ideas for casual looks to celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s doubtful that most of us will be having the large family gatherings of years past, which allows us to relax our holiday looks a bit.
Or doesn’t it? If you are still planning to put on the glitz and glimmer to celebrate Thanksgiving, go for it!! Just promise to share with me in the comments below. I want to live vicariously through you all, my fashionista friends! Lol! Better yet, check out all the style inspiration at this week’s link-up party!
To participate in the Link Up or to get inspiration, read on, my friends.
On to the casual outfits…
My Casual Thanksgiving Outfit
While I may be going casual, I decided a little pretty was called for. What could be prettier than pink, right? I recently picked up this pink chenille sweater loving the soft chunky texture and the pretty blush color.
The soft color and the chenille material seem like the perfect choice for a day of eating, relaxing, visiting, and eating some more. 😜 It’s so cozy! The sweater features a chic rounded hem and higher neckline. You can easily throw this on over jeans or leggings for any day!
For my look, however, I chose white jeans. Somehow white jeans just seem the tiniest bit dressier. Do you agree? I still love the fit and shape of these vintage high-waist jeans from Madewell. They are fitted but not tight with a raw-hem. They’re now on sale so if you like them, it’s a good time to pick them up. (They’re available in Petite, Regular, and Tall sizes.)
While I probably wouldn’t wear these all day, I’m styling the outfit with my snakeskin booties. They are actually pretty comfortable. Nevertheless, I see myself shifting to my Ugg slide slippers after all is said and done.
Ada’s Casual Thanksgiving Outfit
I love Ada’s take on this topic! Her casual outfit is so cute with the soft blue sweater and jeans. The adorable hat is such a cute touch!
I love that we both saw a sweater and jeans as a great way to go casual this Thanksgiving! She is also from my home state of Michigan–how about that?!
Here’s a message from Ada:
Hi, I am Ada – a Midwest blogger from the Metropolitan Detroit area – and I have been blogging at Elegance and Mommyhood for 8 and a half years since I was pregnant with my beautiful daughter Vivian. She has grown with this blog and through all the changes I have had between different jobs, living in two continents (first in Europe and now back in USA), marriage, divorce and with my evolving and sometimes-changing style, too. That’s why I named my blog “Elegance and Mommyhood” because it’s about good style that is affordable and looking put-together on a budget, as I raise a child as a single mother and dabble with everything that is involved with being a mom.
In the last couple of years I started posting poetry on the blog too since I have been writing poems from my tween years and it is something I love and enjoy. So you will find some of my poetry and a dose of prose in the blog, as well. You can also follow me on Instagram and you can find me on Facebook. I would love for you to follow me and to connect together. Thank you Darlene and Darlene’s readers for having me today. Wishing you all a beautiful, blessed and united November – despite who wins this election – and Happy Thanksgiving!! Welcome by. =)”

Darlene, this is such a pretty outfit for Thanksgiving or for any day really! I love the pink chenille sweater paired with white denim. And your snakeskin booties are the perfect little pizazz! I would be wearing my slippers in the house though as well! I think I have all the pieces necessary to replicate this look so I might be doing that soon! Thanks for the inspiration!

Your sweater looks so soft and cozy! Love the soft color paired with the snakeskin booties! We will be at the beach for Thanksgiving so it will be all about being cozy and cute. Probably will find a place outdoors to eat or just grill.

Thank you, Michelle. Pink seems to work for everyone, but of course, in different shades. It really does feel “feminine” to wear–or is that just our indoctrination? Lol! Oh, well, either way, it is pretty!!
