How was your weekend? Are things warming up where you live? It has certainly been a crazy spring weather-wise. Living by the coast is predictable in terms of temperature but a beautiful sunny afternoon can quickly turn into coastal fog. So, what to wear that will take you from sunny to cool? How about a chambray skirt?
Chambray is such a great fabric. It comes in shirts and tops, pants, dresses and skirts and goes with everything. I sometimes call it denim, as it definitely has a lightwash look and feel. In either case, it is a great piece to have as part of your wardrobe.
The ruffled chambray skirt outfit
This skirt was ANOTHER piece in my recent Trunk Club. I have a similar skirt from Target in gingham (see the post here) that I also love. The midi length of this skirt is one of the great things about it as it allows one to wear any type of shoe from sneakers to heels. (For you taller ladies, it is probably just below the knee!) The ruffled front effect really makes this skirt stand out and gives a flattering line to the skirt.
Chambray skirt | Crewneck tee (on sale and in many colors!)
This is the perfect outfit to wear for almost any casual occasion. I wore it to a Member’s Night function at Casa Romantica. (You can view the post on this delightful spot here.) Casual yet stylish, even with a basic white tee as I have styled it here. Once again, I have to remind you that Lands End has lots of tees in pure cotton; I have been buying them for years and you can’t beat the quality or the price. (And no–they are not paying me to say this! Haha!)
Still loving my circular woven bag! I get so many positive comments on this bag and it really pops in almost any outfit. A pair of wedge sandals in a neutral shade complements the chambray and is a nice contrast to the woven bag.
Suede wedge sandals | White denim jacket
Since it tends to get chilly along the coast, I always bring a sweater or jacket. In this case, an ivory denim jacket served as the perfect accompaniment to my outfit. If you don’t have one, check this one out! It will give you an extra denim jacket that is just a bit dressier in your closet.
Since I was going with a natural, organic look, jewelry included tan tassel earrings and a gold cuff bracelet.
I know I will get lots of wear out of this chambray skirt and will be able to dress it up or down.
Do you have chambray pieces in your wardrobe? I’ll bet you do, but if not, take a look at some of these cute pieces:
