Happy Monday, everyone! I hope your holiday preparations are rolling along. I finally had some time to do some Christmas decorating at my house!! Yay!! I actually love the decorating part but pulling down all the “stuff” and deciding what look I am going for is the part that takes time. I have done various color and style themes through the years and my decorations never look the same from year to year. It may just be that I forget what I did last year each year! Haha! I have had a burgundy theme, lime green and red, pastels, natural, and so on. This year, I am doing my Christmas decorating around a dark aqua and bright red color theme. And, as I said in a previous post, my decor gets simpler each year.
Decorating the tree
And along those lines, my tree has been getting smaller, too! I really like my current 6-foot tree. It’s a narrower tree as well, which fits better in my living room. And it’s much easier to decorate!
In my first few years of Christmas decorating, I spent quite a bit more on decorations in terms of quality. But since I like to change things up, I now buy things I like regardless of the price point. For example, many of my tree skirts and stockings are from WalMart: I have them in white, red and navy. They are sparkly and pretty and the fact that they are inexpensive allows me to use them or not each year and not feel bad about the money spent!
The red top
While I am doing my Christmas decorating, I am styling, of course, a bright red blouse! This is the lovely split sleeve top from Stitch Fix that I styled in a previous post. (You can view it here.) I love the cold-shoulder style and the color, and I especially love the pleated sleeves. It’s just one of those blouses that make you feel feminine and pretty, know what I mean? And, naturally, the red is perfect for the holidays!
Christmas decorating around the house
In the picture below, you can see how simply I styled my coffee table and entry hall table, using the red from my theme.
Christmas decorating can really bring out your personal style! I would love to hear some ideas from all of you!
OK, now I am starting to TRULY feel the holiday spirit! Christmas decorating, making cookies, spending time with family and friends–all of these are what makes the holidays so special.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you will check back tomorrow and all this week for some more holiday inspiration.
Happy Holiday prepping, my friends!
