Hello, everyone! Today I am styling linen pieces. Linen never goes out of style in the summertime, regardless of trends. The use of linen, made from flax fibers, goes back centuries and is one of the oldest woven fabrics used by man. The word itself comes from the Latin word linum, which was the name for the flax plant. Cool, huh? You bet. Linen is known for its absorbency and coolness in hot weather.
The pieces I’m styling today have been a part of my wardrobe for some time. I love the soft colors and the feel of linen against my skin.
The aqua linen top is from Talbots. They have a great line of linen pieces every summer. The shirt can be worn with long sleeves or rolled and buttoned as it is here.
The tan linen pants are from JJill. They also have some lovely pieces in linen every summer. My tan block-heeled sandals are the perfect shoe accessory with the neutral shades.
If you are worried about linen wrinkling, you just have to forget about it! It simply will not stay unwrinkled and overly ironing it and using starch simply don’t work and actually ruin the look of the linen. It’s meant to wrinkle and to stay in a natural state. Of course, I do run a quick iron around the neckline and front placket, but truly, it is probably a waste of time and effort!
To update the look of older pieces in your closet, simply add some accessories that you like or are currently trending. Here I’ve added my tassel necklace and earrings, along with my cuff bracelet. I’m already getting a lot of wear out of this piece from Stitch Fix–I hope you don’t get tired of seeing it, but it adds the perfect pop of gold!
Once again, I am carrying my almond python-leather bag from Gigi New York–the perfect neutral bag with these soft colors.
Do you have linen pieces in your wardrobe? I just bet you do. Don’t hesitate to pull them out as you dress for the long, hot summer days ahead. We are expecting 80 degrees along the coast by Friday which is pretty warm for us. I can’t wait! Linen would be a great choice!
I will be sharing some warm weather looks in the next few days, including shorts and skirts. Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog and I hope you will check in tomorrow. And you can always follow me on Pinterest, Instagram, and.Facebook I am having so much fun with Instagram; do you have an Instagram account? It’s such a great way to share and view photos and images from others.
Until tomorrow, stay cool.
