Remember how big gingham plaid was last year? You could find almost anything in gingham including sofas and chairs! Whether it’s popular or not, however, this pattern is a great one for summer. Like this easy-breezy gingham sundress.
So, you ask, is it a plaid or a gingham? Actually, this dress should be called a gingham print, according to this definition:
A plaid pattern includes vertical and horizontal lines of varying sizes and colors. You know, the pattern used in Scottish kilts and 90’s grunge bands. … The colors in gingham are always white and one other color. The vertical and horizontal lines are of equal size and are evenly spaced.
While the title and description for this dress are described as plaid, it appears that it’s truly a gingham print. Either way, it’s a great dress for an easy summer style!
Read on for the details on this sundress…
The Gingham Sundress
The Sundress
I ordered this dress a couple of weeks ago from Amazon. Being Amazon, it arrived in a couple of days. (That never ceases to amaze me!) In the meantime, I’ve spotted this dress in various other colors on other bloggers, so you know it’s a hit. And why not? It’s an easy throw-it-on-and-go kind of dress. It’s very well-made, too, with a full sewn-in lining, so no see-through-in-the-sunlight issues.
The only issue I had was that the dress was quite wrinkled in the bag it came in. Not that I’m ironing averse–well, actually, I am!! Lol!
Surprisingly, my husband was complimentary about this outfit. He has been known to say of some of my floral or plaid pieces, “That would look nice on the dining room table.” Ugh. He did make a comment about me looking like I just came from Sunday School, then quickly clarified with, but in a good way! Uh-huh! Good thing I dress for myself or I would wear nothing but tailored and preppy looks all the time!
Clearly, it’s a loose-fitting dress with a ruffled bottom. There is a single button closure at the back of the neck which makes it easy to throw on and go. There is nothing as perfect for a warm summer day than a loose and comfy dress, is there?
It comes in black, a pretty medium blue, red, and yellow gingham. Naturally, I went for the yellow! Haha! They are all super cute, though, so it’s hard to decide! At a price point under $30, you can’t go wrong with any of them or any two of them!
The Accessories
My platform sandals are from last season but still a favorite for their amazing comfort. Here is a similar platform sandal in white from Ugg. It’s super cute and highly rated.
The woven bag is also from last year. I get compliments every single time I carry this bag! There is a very similar style on clearance in white. Check out the woven circle bag here!
Of course, white rattan earrings were the perfect accompaniment to this casual outfit, so I am once again styling them.

Is there is such a thing as too much gingham? I think NOT! hehe. I love this dress on you! So summery and fresh in yellow gingham, you look so pretty in it! I just love yellow and do prefer gingham in other colors besides black and white traditional. the circle bag is precious with it. Hope you are staying cool!

I agree–there is never too much gingham! Somehow I do think of you when I see dresses like this one as you have so many pretty checked dresses, Jess! Obviously, I do love yellow! Lol! This bag is definitely one of my better purchases. We’re actually having a very cool July–in the 70s!! I’m ready for some heat! But the coast rarely gets over 80 so here we are! Have a great week!

Thank you, Gail. Well, since I love both yellow and gingham, it was a no-brainer!! Lol! Have a great weekend.

You are just as cute as can be in this sunny, cheerful dress and that bag just pairs perfectly! Isn’t it nice when our husband’s notice what we are wearing (in a good way! Ha!).

What a cute sundress! I don’t have any gingham in my wardrobe – it’s not something you see a lot of here in Australia, more of an American thing! But this yellow is beautiful and so perfect for summer! 🙂
Hope you have been having a great weekend 🙂
That’s so interesting, Mica. I would have thought it would be big there like most plaids. But there you go, you learn something new every day! Thanks for sharing. Hope your week is going well!
