What length of shorts do you like to wear? Those that are most flattering, right? Except maybe on one of those insanely hot days where you just don’t care and short-shorts do the job best. But for every day, Bermuda shorts are a good choice as they offer just enough coverage to wear out to the store, running errands, or even dressed up for a casual evening out. Today I’m sharing three easy olive Bermuda shorts outfits that you can wear right now, even as we stay-at-home during the current crisis.
Why olive, you say? It’s such a great neutral that goes with so many colors. It’s a color that looks good on almost everyone, too. If olive isn’t your color, wear it away from your face as I am doing in these outfits. To illustrate, each of these outfits features very different patterned tops with wildly different color combos. Yet all pair beautifully with olive.
Of course, if olive just isn’t your thing, you can always pick up a basic pair in white. In the post How to Style Bermuda Shorts and a Tunic Top, white Bermudas are featured. White shorts always work, too.
All pieces in today’s post are from Loft, who is having incredible sales. So even though you can’t leave the house except for necessities, you can add some color and style by wearing a cute summerish outfit.
Easy Olive Bermuda Shorts Outfits
Being on the short side, I had to learn to love the length of Bermuda shorts. Many stores offer them in petite lengths as well as regular and tall, so it’s much easier to find the right fit.
This length works well, and can also be rolled up. I’ve been known to roll hems up one roll higher. After pressing them, they look fine!
This official color name for these shorts is Dark Lichen Green. Hmm, they look olive to me! Haha! In any case, the fit is similar to their Riviera pants, with belt loops and a shaped waist.
Saffron Spice paisley? Oh, yeah. There were several pieces in this gorgeous print but many have sold out. I’m including the cami version below, as well as the same style shell top in a more subtle print.
The best thing about this colorblock sweater top? It’s different. I tend to gravitate to things like this, and of course, the color–exotic yellow–called my name! I can see it with a denim skirt or dark jeans–you will probably see that combo in a future Shop My Closet post! The cap sleeve is flattering to one’s “older” arms, too.
This garden floral henley top is one of those prints that go with everything. The fabric is linen so it’s a cool alternative to a heavy knit top.
The Slide Sandals
OK, once and for all, or at least for now, what the heck is the difference between mules and slides? Here is the definitive answer, according to Quora:
Generally, a slide is an open back/open-toe shoe with relatively low heels, if any. … Some slides do have heels but they can be tricky to wear/balance. A mule is an open back, closed-toe shoe. Generally, they are flat-heeled as well.
So, are these slide sandals? To stay on the safe side, I am going to call them slip-ons!! Lol! In any case, these are super comfortable with a padded sole platform. The natural cognac color is a good choice for spring and summer as it goes with everything.
