There is nothing better than the cozy feel you get snuggled up in a chunky knit sweater coat. This mustard tan version looks heavy but is lightweight and soft! It just makes me want to cuddle up on the sofa with a mug of tea and kick back!
The beauty of this chunky sweater is that it also looks smart as a coat. So you can wear it with a dress or dressed-up pants outfit, too. And of course, it looks amazing with any jeans outfit.
I was so glad I took it along for this outfit that I styled this weekend. We ended up in my brother’s backyard watching the Dodgers vs. Red Sox on Saturday and when the fog rolled in, it got very chilly! So, cozy sweater coat to the rescue! And yes, though I am a devoted Angel fan, I am rooting for the Dodgers, as my second West Coast team of choice! Sorry, Red Sox fans. By the time you read this, it could all be over, but I’m hoping for a good showing tonight!
The Chunky Knit Sweater Coat outfit
As I said, this chunky knit sweater coat is much more lightweight than it looks but is plenty warm. At $75 it’s a pretty good buy and will definitely be wearable long into the fall and winter. If the “tan sugar” color doesn’t work for you, you can also get it in navy and black. I think I’ve said it before, but WHERE do they get these crazy color names?! Lol! I guess sugar refers to the caramel-ish color, but I still think it’s more of a mustard tan. Oh, well, they didn’t ask me, right?
You may have noticed that I’ve been styling more flats lately. I’m suddenly quite smitten with them! I am loving these pointy toe loafers that have a nice padded bottom and leather sole. The pinkish shade is also a great neutral. There are just a few sizes and colors left and you can see them here. And Target has a very cute version in several nice colors you can see here.
This floral tee is a great piece to wear with so many things already in your closet. And the dark navy background makes it perfect with your dark jeans. I styled it here with my chunky knit sweater coat, but it would look amazing with an olive or navy cardigan, a blazer, or your favorite jean jacket. It looks really nice with pink, too! Like this super cute chunky sweater from Target below. Next time, I will style it with a pair of pink corduroy pants.
On the left is a darling olive cardigan that would be a great addition to your wardrobe. And this pink chenille cardigan is a super cute and cozy option!
Either of these affordable cardigans would look amazing with the floral tee above and are a great fall wardrobe choice. And they are very affordable!
Accessories for the chunky knit sweater outfit
Rose gold is such a pretty and feminine look in jewelry and this Kendra Scott pendant necklace in rose gold is a nice companion to the vintage floral tee. And the earrings are inexpensive ones, with lots of pretty soft color beads to complement many of your outfits. You can find the earrings here.
I will be back to share some inspiration for skirt outfits in the next posts, so stay tuned!
Thanks for spending a little time with me today. I’m honored that you stopped by!

I love love the color of your sweater coat, right up my alley. Wonderful mix with your floral blouse! I have been wearing a heel, since I can finally wear them, but do love the look of the slides! Those look comfy and add to the warm tones in your outfit. Pretty!

Hi, Jess,
Yes, I’ve been admiring the heels you’ve been styling in your posts lately!! Very smart. While the color name of the sweater, sugar tan, is odd, I find it looks great with so many other colors.
Thanks for the nice comments!

We call them a coatagon here in the UK and they are all the rage! I fancy getting one too, they seem so cosy. I love the colour of yours Darlene xx
Thanks, Maria. I love that term: “coatagon!” My new word! It’s much lighter than it looks, but feels so cozy! Thanks for the nice comment. I’ve been following your style–love it!
