What is your favorite season? When is that time of year when you relish picking up new outfits and pieces for your wardrobe? I have to admit that summer is that sweet spot for me, as I love the vibrant colors, especially the pinks, oranges, yellows, and blues. But a close second, of course, would have to be fall. And fall for me says, plaid flannel outfits.
Plaid and flannel always make me think of fall. The deep rich mix of colors in fall plaids always adds a vibrant surprise to an outfit. And when that plaid is made up in a flannel fabric, it just says warm and cuddly. Don’t you agree?
So when my lovely blogging colleague, Debbie, of Debbie’s Styles Life, selected “Fall Fashion Favorites” for this month’s Match Made in Seven theme, my thoughts went straight to plaid flannels.
And it just so happens I’ve styled a few of those recently! What a surprise! Lol! Here, without further ado, are my fall fashion favorites: plaid flannel outfits.
My Favorite Plaid Flannel Outfits
Of the many plaid flannel outfits I’ve styled this fall, this plaid dress outfit is definitely my favorite. The flannel is soft and not too heavy, and the ruffle adds a cute feminine touch to the look. I styled it with my snakeskin booties for a little Western flair!
Surprisingly, the plaid flannel dress is style available in a few sizes. And these oh-so-comfy snakeskin booties, too. They are a great neutral shoe for your fall looks!
Plaid Flannel Shirt Outfits
Of course, the mainstay of fall style is the flannel shirt. They used to be itchy and heavy but the newer versions are both soft and colorful. Like my rust-and-pink plaid shirt and my green flannel tunic. Both are versatile and easy to style!
Both of these shirt looks came from Target, as did the rust corduroy jeans and the turtleneck tank. The olive sandals are from Walking Cradles and are SO comfy! The olive ankle pants are from Wit & Wisdom.

Here you also got a look at our newest adoptee, Lulu! She’s such a little love and a lovely addition to our family!
If you are looking for a turtleneck or two, here is a link to a great turtleneck at Amazon. It comes in sleeveless, elbow- and long sleeves in more than 30 colors!
This list wouldn’t be complete without a little buffalo plaid flannel, right? Here is a top I love from a way earlier post:

Such a great look for the holidays, too. I shared three ways to style this seemingly casual-only top in the post above. Just click on the image to view the post!
For a final plaid flannel outfit, I would be remiss if I didn’t include an image from one of our earlier collaborations called Match Made in Seven Does Punk Style. Here I styled a very traditional plaid flannel shirt with my not-so-traditional punk look!

You have some great plaid items: I love that dress! While I like layering in the fall, my favorite season is probably spring and early summer.

Ah, spring and summer for me, too. But you are so right about layering for fall–it gives us lots of options for styling an outfit, doesn’t it?
Have a great week, Mireille,

I love Fall! Fall fashion is my favorite as I love the warm colors, fabrics and styling possibilites. You look great in plaid! IS that green and black plaid from Target? I think its the same plaid I have in a dress! The rust cords with the plaid top is fabulous too! Love that midi dress in blue, so good on you!
thanks for linking!

Darlene, you really know how to rock the plaid flannel! All outfits are a fantastic look on you. I’ll admit to being particularly drawn to that green plaid tunic top, and your punk outfit. Well done!
Thanks so much for the sweet comments, Michelle! You can’t go wrong with plaid, right? The punk outfit was a little outside the box for me, but in the end, I liked it!
Have a wonderful day!

That’s a lot of plaid! You and Emma are real fans! Love the green tunic and those trousers.
I know, right? And these are just the plaid FLANNEL pieces! Lol! Thanks, Nancy–loved your interpretation, too!

I remember commenting on your lovely green plaid before. Its gorgeous. I love how you’ve styled plaid for going out somewhere smart in the first pic. A great idea.
Yes, I remember that, too, Anna! Thanks for that. And yes–plaid can so easily be dressed up or down, can’t it?
Have a wonderful weekend–coming soon!

You have some fantastic flannel pieces! I especially love the last outfit where you paired it with leather!
Thanks very much, Laura! When I put the post together, I discovered that I do have quite a few plaid flannel pieces. How does that happen?! LOL!

Aw, thanks, my sweet friend! The buffalo plaid is so easy to dress up and down–I think it’s the classic red-and-black checks. I loved your interpretation, too. You have some very cute looks!

Aw, thanks sweet friend! Thanks to you for picking a theme with just the right amount of challenge! Lol! Our weather is so strange–hot and windy, then quite cool. Must be fall! “See” you next time!
