Whether or not you are a fan of the Nordstrom Sale hype, the sale selections give us a little sneak peek at what we’ll be wearing come September. In this post, I’m sharing my view of fall trends from the #NSale.
#NSale and Fall Trends
What am I seeing? Nothing far out or overly surprising, but there are some nice pieces to add to your closet as well as basics.
Straight-leg jeans are continuing to trend. Of course, you can still pick up a pair of designer skinnies, too, along with some bootcuts.
Suede booties with square and pointy toes are showing for fall along with knee-high and over-the-knee boots. Chelsea boots–both subtle and with a military bent–are still popular.
Comfy flats and chunky loafer styles are still going strong as well. I’ve ordered these platform loafers in pink and will style them once they arrive. They come in other colors, too.
Tops and blouses are pretty traditional, with feminine popovers and plaid button-up shirts and shackets (shirt style jackets). I’ve ordered this plaid popover tunic in pink–yes, to wear with the pink platform loafers! Lol!
Dresses range from bodycon fitted styles to loose patterns, so, honestly, almost anything goes in that department. My online order includes this peach and ivory paisley A-Line dress. It’s pretty, but not a sure thing for me.
Sweaters, of course, are a fall staple and are fairly well represented in the sale. The style I’m showing today is oversized, a continuing fall look. My Wish List also included a basic V-Neck sweater to refresh my closet. There are lots of similar sweaters here on sale.
My Fall Trend Picks
We arrived home from our week in Cabo and packages with some of my selections from the NSale had been delivered so I can give you a taste of a couple of these trends.
First off, the funnel neck sweater. It appears to be sold out already from the sale. This is the most frustrating part of the “tiered” approach to the sale. Those who spend more get the earliest access. I’m not overly fond of that approach but there you go.
In any case, the tan or camel color is always a popular fall shade. I love the funnel neck as it’s not as confining or overly warm as a turtleneck And the oversized fit is super comfy and relaxed. This particular sweater has a tiny bit of cashmere making it soft without too much wool, for those of us who can’t tolerate it. Just in case they restock, as they sometimes do, here is the link to the funnel-neck sweater
Now the jeans. It’s a very different feel when you wear a pair of these straight-leg pants. For some, it takes some getting used to. I love the comfort and the laid-back vibe of this style. These Wit & Wisdom jeans are in great demand and may have limited availability. (Here is a similar pair of W & W jeans. While they are not on sale, the price is fair.) They also come in plus-size jeans. Yay!
Fall Shoes and Accessories Trends
I didn’t go in big for any of the jewelry or handbags from the sale, but there are lots to choose from. Shoes–YES. Why? I’m a shoe fetish gal! Lol!
Braided sandals and slides are a big hit this summer and there are still some you can pick up. I looked for a lower stacked heel as comfort is my thing! These braided block-heeled sandals have a square toe, a feature that’s coming into its own right now.
I certainly could’ve worn either these shoes from the sale–these pointy-toed suede mules with a gold chain effect, or these pointy-toe booties–but opted for the sandals. Hey, it’s still summer and we hit 78° today! Lol! Luckily, we had a cool ocean breeze so it wasn’t too bad!
While these sandals are NOT part of the sale, they are a cute shoe that you can wear into the early fall. For me, I can probably wear them until November. They are also available in black and cream.
A cute tote bag is a fun element to add a little pop or to coordinate with an outfit. Mine is older, from Target, and here is a similar leopard canvas tote from Nordstrom Rack.
Whew! So there you have it, my view of fall trends from the #Nsale. As items continue to be delivered, I will style them here so you can either pick up some pieces or get some inspiration for your fall style.
