How was your weekend? It has been cool and rainy here which is a good thing for us. But I am SO ready for warm, spring weather! We sometimes have bouts of warm weather around this time of year, but in the meantime, it’s all about long pants and long-sleeve tops. Speaking of that, today I am styling the super cute front split hem jeans (say THAT fast 3 times! Yikes!) that came in my recent Trunk Club. You saw them last week in this reveal post.
Front split hem jeans outfit
From last week’s post, you can see that these jeans are long on me–at least without shoes. And to look good on my smaller frame, I do have to wear them with a bit of a heel. In the picture on the Nordstrom website (you can view them here) they actually look cropped on the tall model!! Haha! Well, I am wearing them long and splitting over my heels, and I like the way it looks! They would look amazing on you taller ladies, and my shorter friends could style them like I do. This is a common dilemma for us shorter gals–finding designer jeans that really fit. I will say that this brand of jeans, by FRAME, fits well in every other way and I will buy a pair again. They are pricey, but the fit is perfect. My Trunk Club box had three different styles of this brand that all were really nice.
The jeans have seams in the front–hence, the front split hem jeans name– that help make them flattering. And I am feeling pretty good with the results of my fat loss journey so clothes are fitting better, too! ( You can read about this plan and link to the program here.) Aren’t these jeans a fun throwback to the 60’s and 70’s?! lol!
White mules seemed like the perfect shoes to highlight the split hems in the front, but in case you are tired of seeing me style these (haha!), I will also style them with gray booties below.
Bell-sleeve top–it’s all in the details!
Bell-sleeves continuing to trend as do all kinds of sleeve details. This top is from Loft from an earlier post (you can view it here.) Loft makes very cute tops and they have great sales. Links to two very cute, similar tops are here and here.
I am hearing from bloggers who attended the fashion shows recently that “matchy-matchy” is coming back, particularly in shoes and bags. If you are like me, and over 50, you tend to match your shoes and bags most of the time already, as we spent almost a lifetime following THAT rule! And besides, it always works, right? In any case, I am styling this outfit with a gray crossbody bag that is big enough to hold all my stuff. In the next photos, you can see the look styled with gray suede booties.
The booties give it even more of a 70’s vibe, don’t they? And the bell-sleeve top also channels that era!
And finally, here is a “rear” shot as well as a shot with my babies Scooter and Sergeant. They are SO supportive of picture-taking for the blog as they are ALWAYS in the way! Haha!
Whew! I hope you like these split hem jeans as much as I do, or at least enjoyed this flashback to the 70’s!
