Is there anything more wonderful than a summertime wedding? The promise of love and hope just seems perfectly matched to summer. Hmm–but I got married in January! Haha! Oh, well, it has lasted for more than 40 years, so it must have had a good beginning, regardless of the date, right? In any case, a floral fabric is perfect for a summer wedding, and I have a super cute one to share with you today: a floral chiffon dress that just floats!
Until I put this dress on, I wasn’t sold. But once I did–I loved it! The combination of navy chiffon and the bright flowers really worked for me. And chiffon has such a light, floaty quality. I wore it this past weekend to our wedding in Santa Barbara, so I will also share a few photos of that. Check it out below!
The floral chiffon dress outfit
This is another great find that came in my Trunk Club selection. Again, it is NOT something I would have picked out on my own. If you haven’t tried Nordstrom’s Trunk Club, check it out by clicking on the image in the sidebar. And in this post, I did a “Pros and Cons” of Trunk Club and Stitch Fix. To be honest, I like both for different reasons. Both challenge me to try something new in my wardrobe and since that is the point of my blogging journey, I like that!
You can see how the vivid colors stand out on the dress. And the ruffled stand collar is a nice touch, too. The sleeves are cut in to show off your shoulders–a good look on almost all of us.
For these photos, I went simple on the shoes and wore my suede espadrilles. They give the dress a little bit of a casual feel and pick up the yellow tones in the flowers. Of course, a round woven bag is a perfect touch for summer. These bags go with everything summer!
The fit-and-flare shape is great as it hugs your upper torso, but not the bottom. Gotta like that, right?
Jewelry was also kept simple with this dress. Tan and gold tassel earrings, a gold cuff bracelet, and a simple gold necklace were all I added. I wasn’t sure the necklace was needed, but I think it could come or go.
If you are looking for something a little different, try this floral chiffon dress. If you like floral and you like navy, this is for you! Doesn’t it look great with the purple agapanthus plants? Couldn’t resist.
The Santa Barbara wedding
Santa Barbara lies up the coast from us about 175 miles. It’s located just north of Ventura County, which is north of LA County. It’s a very pretty town with a big Spanish influence, much like our little town of San Clemente! There is a lot of early California history that took place there, including the establishment of Mission Santa Barbara. I’ll share some pictures of the area in the next couple of posts. For now, though, more about the wedding.
The boys who live next door were childhood friends with my son, so they share a lot of history. The oldest son, Andrew, is largely responsible for planning the wedding, and the three of us–my husband, son, and I–couldn’t miss it. It’s normally very pretty weather-wise, but being a coastal community, the weekend was, sadly, overcast. So my photos won’t do it justice, but I wanted to share them anyway. Enjoy!
In my Stitch Fix selection were these adorable hot pink wedges by Nine West. They looked great with this dress! The lower heel was so comfortable and made dancing a breeze. And I do like to dance! They are now only available in a cute floral satin or black–you can see them here. My shawl is from a cruise we took that included Turkey, so it always reminds me of the fun trip we took there!
A few scenes of the wedding venue. On Leadbetter Beach, with a lovely view of the land jutting out behind. It was cloudy but still warm.
The bride’s dress was absolutely beautiful! It had lace and beading and fit her so beautifully! It was a lovely destination wedding and we had a great time.
I hope you enjoyed our trip to Santa Barbara and gained some inspiration for the summer wedding YOU are attending this summer. Or even if you just want a pretty new dress!
Such a pretty dress, perfect for a wedding! The bride’s gown is beautiful! Thanks for linking up!
