Can you wear palazzo pants? They are a big trend right now and look super cute on tall or long-legged gals. Not on me, however. So, these flowy wide-leg pants are a great substitution!
What is the difference between a wide-leg and a palazzo styled pant? According to an article on Leaf:
Palazzo pants are a specific type of wide-leg pant, with their own characteristics. Wide-leg pants are relaxed fit, generally straight cut from thigh to ankle, but the fit of palazzo pants is more generous. Cut to flare at the waist, palazzo pants are extremely wide throughout the leg. The generous cut can make them appear to be a loose-fitting maxi skirt. The long, loose cut is a distinctive characteristic of palazzo pants.
Curious about the name palazzo? I always think of the palazzos in Italy and wonder about the connection. Here is one description:
Palazzo is an Italian word literally meaning a large, splendid palace or building. Palazzo pants are trousers with very wide legs to move around freely and maybe the large area gave it the name Palazzo Pants.
Are palazzo pants for you? There are a lot of musings as to which body type can wear this wide-legged style. But, like any style, each of us is different and we have to try things and judge for ourselves. For me, the relaxed style of a wide-leg pant works, while the fuller style of the palazzo pant does not. So these flowy wide-leg pants are my pick for a cute summer look!
The Outfit
Flowy Wide Leg Pants
With a shimmery finish, these light and flowy wide-leg pants are perfect for vacation days. Or staycation days. There are lots of ways to style these pants so you can wear them to the beach or to a pool party!
They are selling out fast, so I’ve linked to some similar pants here with fun bold prints:
The Tops
First, I’ve styled them for a super casual beachy look. A square-neck white tee and flat leather sandals keep the look casual but the hat, of course, says beach day.
A black tank and shimmery black top gives the pants a far dressier look and feel. It’s styled here as a jacket over a black tank top. With the silvery shimmer in the pants and the sheen on the top, the outfit is ready for a summer party.
Finally, for an additional pop of color, I styled the flowy wide-leg pants with a side-tie top in coral. You sometimes hear you must wear a tucked-in fitted top with wide legs, but that isn’t always the case. Style them the way you want!! The side-tie does add a bit of definition to my waist.
A black woven crossbody bag is perfect for summer. While it won’t hold your everyday items–at least if your everyday handbag is as full as mine!–it’s great for the few things you need to go out, like your brush, lipstick, small wallet, etc.
These cute slides from Lucky Brand are that perfect balance between casual and dressy. They have a slight wedge which is much more comfortable than a totally flat sandal. They come in 5 colors, including a fun leopard print!
Both of the black tops are from the Prologue line at Target. Prologue pieces generally have simpler lines and a looser designer-like fit. These pieces are often in solid colors so they are nice additions to the basics in your wardrobe. The white tank is on sale from Loft and the coral is an older top, but I’ve linked to a similar top here:
It’s always fun to try the newest style. Give some bold and flowy wide-leg pants a try for a super cute summer look! Be sure to try the popular palazzo pants style too! It might be just right for you.
I love the print of your wide-leg pants and all the ways you styled them. The colors are just so great. I own one pair of palazzo pants and I think they are so cute, though definitely not short on material. lol Have a wonderful week!
Haha! Yes, I know what you mean about palazzo pants! They are just too much material on me, but look so cute on taller ladies! Oh, well. Thanks for the nice comment, Chrissy.
