It will officially be summer this week; specifically June 21st. Are you ready for the long summer days ahead? The one absolute for summer is a pair of well-fitting shorts. So today, I am styling my favorite brand in pink with a flutter sleeve shell. The colors and style scream summer! Woohoo!
Now I know many of you say you can no longer wear shorts. I get it. I really do. After a certain age, our legs just don’t look quite as good as they did when we were younger. But, honestly, think about how many times you didn’t wear something when you were younger and a bit more self-conscious than you are now. I’ll bet you look back and say, geez, I could’ve worn those! SO, wear your legs proudly. Think about this: You will never again look as good as you do today. On a hot summer day, you deserve to wear shorts as much as the next person. It’s all in your attitude!
I hope you all had a lovely day celebrating the special men in your lives for Father’s Day. We had a BBQ with two of my brothers and their wives and of course our son Max. June gloom has raised its ugly head once again here along the coast, but the day turned out sunny with blue skies so all was well. And now it’s time to get ready for summer, regardless of the weather, right?!
The shorts
I am all about affordable fashion and when I find something that fit as nicely as these pink shorts, I pick up a few colors. You may have seen the recent post with the tropical print shirt and the tan version of these shorts. You can check them out here. These are from the Target A New Day line that I am really liking. Have you tried them yet? They are the 5-inch version which is just the right length on me. They are a nice chino fabric and come in 3-, 5-, and 9-inch lengths. And I was so excited to find this cute flutter sleeve shell to complement the shorts!
The flutter sleeve shell
What do you think of the pink-with-red trend? I find myself liking it more and more. This cute flutter sleeve shell (on sale, so grab it quickly if you want one!) in pale pink with the red and green floral was the perfect accompaniment to the shorts.
To highlight the red floral, I added this red faux leather clutch. A very affordable accent piece I have been searching for!
At first, I was afraid my emerald-green slides might look like Christmas! But I liked the way the shoes and bag looked together so went for it. Fashion IS about what YOU like, right?

The jewelry
There is quite a lot of jewelry in my jewelry case–any my drawers, and my chest…Lol! But I can never resist adding a few pieces of Kendra Scott to my collection. Her pieces are made of high-quality material, have lots of pretty colors, and give your outfits a classic look. These two pieces, the small drop earrings and the pendant necklace, come in a variety of colors. I picked up the rose gold versions and I love the way it looks with this pink flutter sleeve shell!

So, if you are like me, and waiting for June Gloom to go away, refresh your shorts wardrobe before the heat gets here. Add a few cute tops, and mix and match with what you already have in your closet. And remember, if I can wear shorts, YOU can wear shorts! Bring on summer!
Such a pretty, summer-y outfit!
