As I’ve been styling mostly jeans and pants lately, I figured it’s time for a dress. Fall isn’t just about sweaters and jeans, right? Today, I’m sharing a flirty chain print dress that I picked up for a song.
To be honest, my initial impression when this dress arrived was, equestrian. Remember when that print was “in”? Well, probably several times over the years. It smacked of Ralph Lauren classic prints.
I had a really nice equestrian printed shirt that I finally gave up and donated a few years ago. Now I’m wishing I’d kept it! Do you have any pieces you wished you kept?
While I’m on that line of thinking, I have to mention my youngest brother’s lime green leisure suit he wore to my wedding!! Can you picture it? With a floral polyester shirt! Totally retro now. He often wishes he’d kept it. But I digress…
Now for the dress details.
The Chain Print Dress
I’m rushing to get this piece posted as the dress was on sale and is quickly getting sold out. Just in case, this very cute paisley shirt dress is similar in tones and style. Both are from Social Threads, the company that makes these fab messenger bags and straps. You can see mine in the post, The Simplicity of an All-Denim Outfit.
The dress features a button-down front with a collar, dolman 3/4 sleeves, and an elastic waist with tie. It’s fully lined.
I like the loose fit of the top. The waist is fitted but the sides blouse out, giving it a cool vibe.
It’s not too short but fun and flirty.
And, as I said, I bought it on sale for an amazing price, which is always good.
The beauty of a dress like this is the ability to wear it for more than one season. For me here in SoCal, I can wear it year-round, except on truly cold days. For those days, and really any cool day, I will style it with boots!
Wear It With Brown Suede Boots
As I am currently on a brown kick, as I mentioned in my newsletter (do sign up below if you haven’t yet!), the browns and golds in this print really appealed to me. I wanted to keep the “equestrian” look going so immediately thought of boots.
I had to search far and wide for these brown suede boots as I am super particular about the style of boots and booties.
While I’ve always loved pumps and heels, really high heels have never appealed to me. I do admire them on other women, but comfort is SO important to me. I like to be able to move in my clothes and shoes so the heel height is extremely important.
I love the look of these Western-style boots, but the 3+ heel height is too high for me. So after searching and searching, I found this pair of brown suede boots. I love the fit and they are super comfortable. These boots were made for walking…
Style It With Pumps
As our weather has finally decided to stay in the upper 70s, with nice cool evenings, I will most likely wear this dress with pumps as I’m showing here. It does look very cute with pumps, doesn’t it? Good for the office or dinner!
As we transition from summer to fall, a dress can be a viable option. Styled with boots or tights and booties, all you need to do is add a jacket for a chic fall look.
