I’m taking a break today from fall trends to share a couple of cute gauze sundresses, cause, after all, it’s still summer!
We’ve just reached the one-third point of summer on the calendar and it won’t officially be fall until September 22. If your weather is like ours, we often have as warm or warmer weather in the fall as we do in the summer. In the Midwest, we called it Indian Summer. So, sundresses are a great choice for these August-into-fall months.
Do you like gauze fabric? I’ve had a few pieces over the years, but rediscovered it recently after seeing it on another blogger. I wear this top OFTEN, usually tied in front, for a cute summer look. It’ll be perfect later on with dark jeans and a denim jacket.
You can check out this great lilac gauze blouse in the post, How to Style A Gauze Lilac Top.
Both the midi and flounce-hem dresses shown here are the tiered style. This look is trending big-time this summer. It’s a flattering shape for almost anyone and gives that loose and flowy look we all love.
For fit, both dresses have adjustable spaghetti straps. Yes, you do need a strapless bra. My favorite is on sale for the next few days as part of the Nordstrom Sale. It’s a steal at under $40!
Gauze Midi Sundress
I love black cotton or linen pieces for summer. With a little color on our skin, black provides an attractive contrast and can look quite summery.
This gauze dress was a great buy (and is now on clearance!). When I saw it online, I wasn’t sure if it would be a good look on me but wanted to give it a try. I’m so glad I did. I really like it!
It’s described as a “midi” length, but as is often the case, it’s actually more of a maxi on me. I still like it!
The cotton fabric is doubled up so there is no concern about being see-through. That does make it slightly heavier, but it also helps the skirt to sway cutely. Such a romantic feel!
Cute little white buttons go all the way up the front.
I wore this dress while on our trip to Kauai as you can tell from the photos. The dress was a bit too warm for daytime, but was perfect for the evening. I wore it to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants on the island–The Beach House. It’s located on the South Shore, near Poipu Beach, and is THE spot to view the sunset. We went there 35 years ago (Yikes!), so had to go again and take our son. He loved it!
Flounce Hem Gauze Dress
When I saw this adorable little number on Lisa from Coast to Coast2, I had to check it out! She is styling it in lilac–so pretty–and mine is in pink. (Actually, a peachy-pink. Whoever does the color descriptions for the Target website is a bit color-blind. )
This is the kind of dress you can style up or down for almost any summer event and there are still plenty of those going on!
It looks really sweet with a denim jacket, too! I can see it in the early fall with booties and a jacket. I know there will be lots of opportunities to wear it during the warm days of August and September.
Since I’m totally on a gauze kick, I recently ordered this gauze tank top. It comes in white and some pretty colors as well as a soft blue tie-dye.
So, there you have it!! A few super cute options in one of summer’s coolest and most popular fabrics! If you haven’t worn gauze for a while, you’re sure to love it!
