Hello from the desert! I hope you are enjoying this Memorial Day holiday with your families and loved ones. And most importantly, remembering all those who served to protect our country. In my family alone, there is my husband, three of my brothers, uncles, cousins (both male and female), and of course my dad and father-in-law. On this special day, we honor all of those who have and are serving currently. Bless them all. And their families, too, who are also sacrificing for all of us. And to honor the amazingly warm weather in Palm Springs, I am sharing a tropical skirt outfit that will help you get ready for summer. Summer is just around the corner!
The tropical skirt outfit
There really is nothing easier than a skirt. Dresses are easy, too, of course, but a skirt can be worn so many ways. And it’s the perfect piece to pack for a vacation. A cute skirt outfit is a great look for summer. And this tropical skirt has a pattern that pops with lots of colors, so you can pair it with almost any color you like. Or that likes you!
Besides the beautiful colors in the skirt, I am loving the tie-string waist and the pockets. What is it about having pockets on a dress or skirt that is so great?! The skirt is also on sale at Loft. The pompoms on the straw tote illustrate how easily you can incorporate pattern mixing with a tote bag!
The weather is close to 90 degrees today, so an older pair of sparkly gold slide sandals were my shoes of choice for this tropical skirt outfit. Here is a similar pair that also has crystals for some added bling. Naturally, it’s a bit breezy as well, so try to overlook the hairdo!
This sleeveless button-down top is from Stitch Fix – you can see it styled with a blazer in this earlier post. It is by Bella Dahl, who makes nice quality clothing. I especially like the Tencel fabric. And the light olive-green goes with so many things. This top is exclusive to Stitch Fix, but I’ve linked to a similar one in white above.
There are so many nice places to go here in the desert and they use water features a lot. Which makes sense, given the warm temps out here!
Our hotel is actually in Indian Wells and has beautiful grounds. You can see the palms and greenery against the mountains in the background. It is so pretty and restful in the desert, even with the Memorial Day crowds.
Did you notice the lovely green earrings in the photos? They are gold with abalone shell that gives them an iridescent quality that is so pretty. My husband and son gave me the earrings with the matching necklace for Mother’s Day. The lariat necklace I’m styling here is by Gorjana and it came in my last Stitch Fix selection. It’s a great lariat style that is adjustable so you can fit it to the top you are wearing. I wore the gold jewelry to bring out the bling in my sandals!
Check back in on Wednesday for some more views of the desert and have a wonderful Memorial Day.
