Happy Hump Day, my friends! I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine! Today I am styling a cute gingham top that is right on trend! To be honest, I don’t think gingham ever goes totally out of style, but it is fun to see it so popular right now.
This top is a lightweight indigo gingham that can look either black or very dark blue. I am styling it today with both black jeans and white shorts and it looks great either way. If you are wondering if you can wear black jeans in the summer, the answer is a resounding yes!
A great way to style them for summer is with a white or patterned top and bright accessories that say summer. Here you can see I added my mustard clutch and yellow daisy earrings. Yellow, bright green, hot pink, orange or red accessories can really make a black and white outfit pop for summer.
This top is from Talbots and you can click here to see it. I picked it up recently on sale. Mine is a size small, and you can see the fit is roomy. I love the lightweight feel, the ruffle along the sleeves and the bottom and the button detail in back.
My shoes are from Lulu’s. They are very inexpensive and very comfortable. I prefer the lower platform style. My black jeans are old favorites by NYDJ from Nordstrom. The fit is so great in these jeans.
We had a beautiful day in the low 70s, so I could wear the jeans. But the sun was pretty warm and felt so great after all the June Gloom we’ve had, so I changed into white shorts.
How many pairs of white shorts do you have? They are such a staple in the summer. While I have several older pairs, I like to add a pair of fresh white shorts every summer. These are also from Talbots and the scalloped hem is totally trending right now! You can look at them here. They come in a couple of great basic colors including red.
The top and shorts would look really cute with a fun straw handbag and flat sandals, too!
If you haven’t yet, give gingham another look. There are some very cute pieces out there right now. I’ve posted some cute dresses and tops in red gingham on my Pinterest page–check it out! Or you can view my posts on Instagram and Facebook! If you are on Instagram or Facebook, I would love to connect with you!
Until next time! Thanks so much for supporting me by following my blog. If you haven’t yet subscribed, please do so today.
Warmly,
Darlene
