A pink and black outfit is a combination that we don’t see very much these days. But in the past, it was pretty popular.
While it was popular at high school dances and proms many years ago, lots of celebrities wore this combo as a throwback to earlier times at the 2020 Oscars, making it come alive again. Names like Laura Dern, Gail Gadot, and Caitriona Balfe (you KNOW, from Outlanders), all styled beautiful feminine styles in pink and black.
The Pink and Black Outfit
The Ribbed Sweater
The bold pink sweater in this outfit is a fitted rib-knit and it creates a slim fit. The scoop-neck is also fitted, so no worries about bending over, but this probably won’t work in a conservative work environment. However, it does work for date night or a dinner out!
The sweater would also look great under a blazer, as I’m showing here. The pink shade pops nicely against the plaid boyfriend blazer. Plaid blazers are always in style!
Many of the reviewers commented about the odd slit. It’s not meant to run along your side, so you do have to be OK with that. Rather, it’s a focal point. As I look at the photos, I’m thinking it might not be for me either! However, I do love the color!
The snug ribbed knit definitely shows all the lumps and bumps underneath! Lol!
The sweater also comes in black, ivory, chocolate brown (a beautiful rich shade of brown!), and this Pink Malaga.
The Black Trousers
Regardless of what line of work we’re in, or working at or from home, we all have at least ONE pair of black pants. Am I right? But if you’re looking to refresh your collection, these Ponte knit trousers from Liverpool are a great option. (You can also purchase these trousers from Amazon, if you prefer, in all size ranges: Misses Trousers, Petite Trousers, Plus Size Trousers.
The fabric is a bit on the heavier side, so they will be perfect for colder weather. They come in several colors.
Liverpool is a Los Angeles-based company that has been rising in popularity. They make quality apparel at reasonable prices.
In my opinion, the thing that makes this outfit work is the little neck scarf. Neck scarves make it so easy to tie pieces together, whether you tie it around your neck, on your bag, or even on your wrist.
Madewell makes lots of cute neck scarves in lots of colors and patterns. Take a look at this page to see the variety offered. For only $12.50, they are a great investment and will help to maximize your wardrobe.
As this is a “throwback” look, a vintage-style handbag is definitely called for. My Tory Burch chevron-quilted handbag is just the thing! This bag is definitely an investment piece that I will be able to use for years to come.
