Hello from Venice!
I hope you are all far along in your Christmas decorating and shopping. With this long trip, I have a lot of catching up to do for Christmas when we return mid-December. Of course, I have done some ordering online and made my usual trip to Nordstrom, so I have made a dent in my shopping but the decorating will be rather last minute, to be sure!
We spent three days in Venice before embarking on our cruise which then headed for Athens. For this trip, we chose the itinerary we liked from Royal Caribbean on the Voyager of the Seas. It’s one of the smaller ships, with about 1,100 passengers, which is nice. In this post, I will share some of the highlights.
I’ll also share how I stayed warm and styled my puffy vest and scarf as we got on the ship. I haven’t often traveled in the colder months, and I must admit this is a challenge!

Embarking on the Vision of the Seas
I absolutely LOVE this vest. It is from Lands End and is practically weightless but very warm and comfy. It folds into the pocket, so takes up very little room in my suitcase. My scarf is a cashmere shawl from Talbots that I got several years ago and can use as a scarf or shawl.
Once again I am wearing my Cloud Steppers from Clarks which have been perfect for sightseeing–I walked many, many steps in these booties and my feet stayed warm and felt great the entire time. Black jeans are from Nordstrom and are made by NYDJ. Love them!

Wishing you the best as your prepare for the holidays!
Warmly,
Darlene
On our first trip to Venice, it was summer–very hot and crowded. So we avoided visiting the islands of Murano, known for its glassmaking, and Burano, for its lace. This time we made the trip and I am actually glad we did. Below are some highlights from the two islands:
For most of the trip, we walked (and walked!), took pictures, ate great food, drank wonderful wine, and shopped. Here are some photos that just seem to scream “Venice.”
There really is no place on Earth quite like Venice, and if you haven’t been, it should definitely be on your bucket list. Pictures and movies don’t quite paint the picture as does actually being there! The water taxi ride from the airport feels like you are entering another world, and in many ways, you are!
I’m so glad you have taken the time to visit my blog. If you don’t want to miss a post, you can sign up to receive my posts via email (see above right to sign up!) and you’ll never miss a thing. I’m also on Facebook and Pinterest and will soon be on Instagram and google+. (Click on the “Follow” icons above.)
Enjoy the season–this is such a wonderful time of year!
