This high-neck ruffle top has been a big seller to kick off summer this year. It’s super simple, can be worn tucked in or left out, and adds a little extra style to a pair of jeans. Since I love a high neck style like this, I went for it right away!
Do you have a certain style that you are consistently drawn to? I would say this ruffle neck with a slightly halter look is mine. I styled an adorable dress from Trunk Club in the post Ruffle Neck Halter Dress for Date Night that I loved. The dress got LOTS of comments and compliments so I know it’s a popular style with many of you, too.
The High Neck Ruffle Neck Top Outfit
This high neck ruffle-neck top is from the WhoWhatWear line at Target so it’s super affordable. The webpage lists this tan and black print as “White.” Huh? They often have interesting descriptors for colors on the site. Almost any color in the pink or orange family is described as “Red!” Lol! In any case, it’s one of those neutral prints that can go with almost anything.
It also comes in solid black and would make a great wardrobe staple.
While I’ve styled it casually here with my wide-leg jeans, this is the kind of top that works under a blazer for work, with a simple pencil skirt and sandals, as well as your favorite pair of shorts. With its “swing” shape, it looks great over skinny pants or a straight skirt.
The Wide Leg Jeans and Top
Though it’s been a big surprise to me, I really like this wide-leg style in pants. And I love these cream-colored jeans! They are actually a cropped style, but to those of us under 5’4″, they are ankle length. Many of the reviewers are 5’3″ but all of them like them, too! They fit so comfortably with just the right amount of stretch and a higher rise. As with most Universal Threads jeans, they are well-made and at a great price point. They also come in blue denim.
I have a little story to tell you about these jeans. After my post goes live, they are automatically posted to my AquamarinaStyle Facebook page. I’ve met some great ladies there and get lots of sweet comments from my friends and die-hard fans. (Yes, all two of them! Lol!) There is one gentleman who has commented a couple of times with critical comments. I figure, OK, he doesn’t like me or what I’m styling and that’s OK. However, for the post I mentioned above, he said something along the lines of “You shouldn’t wear this style at your age.” WT?!! Believe me, all kinds of replies popped into my head, none of them repeatable, and in the end, I decided to just ignore him.
My real response is to wear them whenever I like! They feel good on, I like the look, and in the end, I dress for me! So take that, Mr. You-Can’t-Wear-Them-at-Your-Age!!
The moral of the story? Wear what you like, when you like, where you like!! Wear those wide-leg jeans any old time you like! And do try this high neck ruffle top! You’ll love it!
