Tired of athleisure and sweats? Does your holiday style need a bit of perking up? A great way to do that is with this flirty jacquard skirt.
Have you found yourself a bit more interested in decorating for the holidays this year? That seems a common theme. Most of us will be sticking close to home and celebrating with small family groups while we work through this devasting virus period. So our homes will be the center point for the holidays.
For some crazy reason, I feel like doing a bit more in the decorating department and really making our home feel special this year. Even though our group will be very small. And since that’s the case with our homes, it seems like dressing things up a bit in the holiday outfit is also called for.
So, whether you’re staying home or going to relatives (of course, known relatives who are following the safety rules), this versatile little skirt could be just what you’re looking for. Of course, when the world returns to semi-normal, this is a piece you can style for years to come.
Flirty Jacquard Skirt Outfit
The Skirt
The beauty of a black skirt of any kind is its versatility. Just like black pants, you can wear practically anything with it and pull off a cute look.
Box pleats release the full, A-line silhouette of this charming knee-length cocktail skirt that shimmers in a festive woven pattern. I know what you’re thinking: That skirt would make my hips look wide. Well, it does, but it’s supposed to! This style is purposely full so by contrast, your waist looks much smaller than usual! Gotta love that, right?
This skirt is from Gibson, who makes the cutest things, that all seem a bit unique and special. You might remember my adorable floral dress by Gibson in the post Ruffle Neck Halter Dress for Date Night.
It’s on sale for $40, so if you like it order right away! It comes in Noir (black) or Britta (Ivory). Just be aware it’s a “final sale” item, meaning you can’t return it. A note on sizing: I’m wearing a Petite Small which is my normal size and the fit is just right. It comes in Petite and Regular sizes from extra small to extra-extra large.
The Halter Tops
I honestly couldn’t decide what to wear with this. Red velvet top? Leopard cami? Hot pink top? So many choices. For today’s look, I went with two tops: a black-and-white halter style top and a soft pink halter top.
You may remember the black and white top from the post, High Neck Ruffle Top for Easy Style. In the post, I styled the top with wide-leg cream-colored jeans for an early summer look. I’ve had the pink halter for some time but haven’t shown it on the blog. I did a little research and found some similar tops here: Dusty Pink Halter Top, and Animal Print Halter Top. Both are from Talbots and they are gorgeous!
The Jackets
Just in case you might wear one of these cocktail skirts and halter top combos to an outside cocktail party (COVID approved!), I’m also sharing the outfits with a leather jacket for a little edge, and my newest addition, this faux fur pink jacket. Of course, you could wear either jacket with either version of the outfit!
The Heels
Black or nude? There is a large body of fashion stylists who advocate for nude heels. They really do add length to your legs and create a smooth line. But there is a lot of fashion wisdom about black heels with a black skirt. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I do like a black heel with a black skirt. Of course, I like nude, too. In any case, both work! You choose what looks best on you and what you are most comfortable with. You get to dictate YOUR style.
However and with whomever you celebrate the season, add a little style and try a flirty skirt and top and kick up your heels this year. You deserve it!
Such a fabulous skirt! I love all the different ways you’ve styled it…the faux fur coat is gorgeous! Thanks for linking up!

That Gibson skirt is so perfect! Classy but a little edgy at the same time. I love the tops as well and how you layered. Hope you have a great week!
Thanks so much, Sherry! That is the perfect description for that skirt! (Now why didn’t I think of that?! Lol!) I love the variety on your website–headed there now. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Gorgeous skirt, Darlene! I have a similar black jacquard skirt that I have had lots of fun styling. I love the femininity and drama of this style. And your outfits are all so pretty with this fun skirt. I do love the look of nude heels with any outfit for the elongating effect. But black is always good, too! Thanks for linking with me.

I thought I remembered you in a similar skirt! It’s one of those pieces we can wear lots of ways, for lots of occasions. The nude/black heel question cracks me up cause I like both–depends on the mood, right? Happy weekend!

These are wonderful ways to style a jacquard skirt! The one with the pink faux fir jacket is my favorite.

Mine, too! Even though it’s bulky, and maybe not flattering, the faux fur is so soft and cuddly! Thanks so much, Lovely. Have a great day!
