What do you think of cropped sweaters? I know for many of us the idea of returning to the cropped everything of the past is not appealing. But there are ways to style the occasional piece, like this cropped turtleneck sweater.
How to Style a Cropped Turtleneck Sweater
As with any cropped top, the easiest way to style it is by adding black pants. Since the shorter length tends to let everything show below the waist, black pants or jeans help to provide that thinning camouflage we all love. Or should I say that long sexy line? Lol! You pick.
You can, of course, add a fitted cami under a cropped sweater, if you like. Just in case it rides up. But another idea is to do the half- or quarter-tuck. Just a bit of tuck prevents the ride up that we all dread. Styled carefully, you really don’t have to show all.
To add to the long, lean line, add booties with a heel, like these wedge booties. What I love about these wedges is they add some height, and the black with black gives everything a long, clean look.
Cropped or not, I fell in love with the color of this sweater. For now, I’m styling it with black for a striking winter outfit, but I can see it a bit later in the season with camel for an early spring or late winter look. Watch for that post later on!
The red-orange shade gives lots of options, as you can wear this sweater with almost any shade of red, pink, or orange. I added these drop earrings in shades of pink and red to illustrate. In the Shop the Post below, I’ve included a link to tassel earrings in the same shades. Gold statement earrings or your favorite hoops would also look amazing, as would bold earrings in black.
In the reviews for this sweater, some ladies remarked that they didn’t like the neck. It’s a mock-neck that stands up in the front which I like. Kind of an Audrey Hepburn style neckline? Anyway, it’s a detail that gives the sweater a unique look. It’s super soft and the cables add to the texture of this sweater.
These ankle jeans are SO flattering. In black, they hide a multitude of sins (ha!), yet they have enough stretch to be comfortable and move with you. Love that!
These wedge booties are my favorites this season! You’ve seen them in previous posts, like A Red Puffy Vest Outfit for Winter and Casual Jeans and Sweater Outfit for Fall. The wedge heels add just the right amount of height and finish off the monochromatic leg look.

Even if, like me, you swore you’d never wear cropped anything again, give this style a try. While a tunic or hip-length sweater if often my choice, it’s nice to try something new and different and this red cropped turtleneck sweater is a great option! Styled carefully, it really can look amazing on almost all of us.
