I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebrating you or a special woman in your life. It’s such a great day for me spending time with my husband and my son. These types of days keep your perspective on what is most important in life: your family and your close friends. For our celebration, my guys took me to brunch. It was a beautiful sunny day, with a bit of wind, but we managed to get these photos of my outfit for the day. My last Trunk Club was very timely as it included this gorgeous and feminine lace floral overlay top that I am styling for today’s post.
What did you style for Mother’s Day? I hope it was colorful to celebrate the very late arrival of Spring for many of us! Lol!
The lace floral overlay top
Now, this TOP!! When I opened up my last Trunk Club I really didn’t see anything that interesting until I saw the fabric on this top and I was totally intrigued. The COLOR! Love it. The mix of patterns, colors, textures, and fabrics really made this top special for me. At first, I styled it with white jeans but I ended up with dark jeans. I just think the colors popped a bit more against the dark fabric.
Once again, these white mules with the chunky heels were perfect for this spring outfit. I SO love them. If you want a sturdy heel in a comfortable slide, give these shoes a try. And they go with everything spring–and summer.
Jeans and accessories
This top is by Halogen, the Nordstrom brand, so the price point was just right for the quality. It is a pretty unique piece by Halogen, whose items are normally very basic and classic! This is a size small, which I what I usually wear, but it is a bit of a boxy shape so it might not work for everyone.
These jeans are still my all-time favorites! They are by Democracy and have a great fit with a bit of stretch. They don’t come in petite so I do have to alter the hemline but they are fairly inexpensive so it works. Check them out here--they are on sale for $40!
Accessories can truly make an outfit but you don’t have to pay a lot to make your outfit pop. The Sugarfix line by Baublebar at Target has so many fun pieces of jewelry, like these super cute white and gold tassel earrings. I wear them a lot!
This Kate Spade satchel is worth every penny! It holds all my things, yet is still small enough to carry easily. And the color–cement–goes with everything! Love it!
Have you tried Trunk Club yet?
I know a couple of you, like my friends Lorie and Anita, have tried Trunk Club and are really enjoying the pieces they’re receiving. I like that there is absolutely no risk, and since I have a Nordstrom Card, there is also no charge! You can’t beat that! Just click on the photo on the sidebar to check them out. I chose only two pieces from my last trunk–this feminine floral lace overlay top and this cute side-tie drawstring top (see the post here). You aren’t obligated to buy anything, and you get to try things on at home where you can see what you already have in your closet so you can coordinate them. I would never have found or chosen this top hanging on a rack so this is really helping me go outside my normal comfort zone. Which is the whole point of this blogging experience! Haha. More about that another time…
We took these pictures at a lovely spot in our area–Pines Park. It sits above the Coast Highway and overlooks the Pacific and it’s always a beautiful, but a bright, place for pictures! Where did you spend your Mother’s Day? I hope it was wonderful. And that you found the perfect outfit to showcase your style! Age is only a number, as they say, and we can flaunt it any way we like!
Have a wonderful week,
I love the lace peplum top, the colours are beautiful!

Hi Emma,
Thanks for that! Like I said in the post, it was part of my recent trunk from Trunk Club. It’s so great to try something I wouldn’t normally even notice! I appreciate the comment.

Thanks, Laura! Love your blog, too! Happy Tuesday.
