How do you style a professional look for summer? You probably guessed that the answer would be with a blazer. A tailored blazer adds polish to almost any outfit and in an unusual print, you can create instant chic.
We all know that blazers can really style up a shorts outfit. Here’s one of my favorites that got lots of comments from viewers:
Blazers also take a plain old jeans outfit to the next level, as in this outfit:
A blazer can also serve as the basis for a dressy yet tailored style. Here I took a boyfriend blazer and styled it with satin jogger pants for an updated Tuxedo look.
And the blazer is certainly a wardrobe workhorse for a professional outfit. How many of you automatically reach for a blazer for work or when you want a tailored professional-looking outfit?
I have to admit to a bit of personal bias, as I worked as an administrator in education for many years and the conservative workplace was best suited to suits and jackets. I have a friend that actually didn’t like wearing one as she was super casual in her attire. So, she kept a blazer on the back of her chair for those times when she had to make an appearance!! Lol!

How to Style a Professional Look for Summer
The Zebra Stripe Jacket
Do I love a stylish blazer? Oh, yeah.
When I saw this gorgeous zebra stripe blazer, I just had to have it! And the price was amazing!! The blazer and pants are a steal at 40% off!
The pattern and bronze color of the blazer is one that we can wear into the fall.
You could wear the jacket with lots of trousers and colored pants in your closet, but I opted for a bright white look. These linen-blend crops from last year are just tailored enough to wear to work yet retain the cool and summery feel.
I’ve had this crepe and lace top for some time, and it works well under a jacket or by itself! I love the effect of a feminine touch of lace against the structured jacket. This is a classic piece that you can wear year-round. It also comes in black and a few other pretty colors.
To keep the summer vibe going, wedge sandals are a great option. A cute leather crossbody bag works well, too. Both are in shades of cognac that play well with the bronze stripes in the jacket.
This belt was a great buy from Target. The scalloped lace edging makes it stand out. I don’t often buy leather belts as these inexpensive ones work well for the number of times I wear a belt. It’s so handy to have a wide selection in your closet to choose from when you are styling a certain look.
While you may opt for earrings that are less showy, these rattan drop earrings add a touch of summer to this outfit. I wore these pieces to a recent business meeting and stuck with my gold hoops as it was a more conservative environment. Depending on the event, you can choose any style of earrings or jewelry that you choose from statement to classic.
If you like this blazer as much as I do, pick one up right away while sizes are still available! You won’t be sorry and you’ll have a quality piece in your closet to wear for years to come.
