A tropical print top is so easy to style. Just pick out any color in the print and style it in a skirt or pants or shorts, or even a pair of shoes, and you are flaunting this breezy style. It’s just that easy.
Remember Mrs. Roper? From the sitcom, Three’s A Crowd? Any time I think of tropical prints I picture her in those voluminous tropical print caftans! They were pretty but often just a bit over the top. Does anyone recall that? (Age spoiler? Lol!)
Tropical print tops are available in many easy styles and colors. They started out as boxy camp shirts–which are still fun to style!–and have progressed to tank tops, cami tops, tunic tops, blouses, bathing suits, dresses, skirts, shorts, and pants. So there is certainly something for everyone. Even better, you can find any number of these stylish tops in prices that are affordable.
To show you just how versatile this print can be, I’m styling them a number of ways in today’s post.
How to Style a Tropical Print Top
Since many of these tops are cami or have the almost-racerback look, you may want to either, 1) wear a strapless bra (often not your first choice, I bet), or 2)pick up one of the bra strap clips I mentioned in a previous post, Style a Striped Midi Dress for Summer Chic.
Style with White Denim
A white skirt or pants is the easiest choice for almost any tropical print top. The white pants provide a nice backdrop for the color in the printed top, allowing it to be the focal point. For this look, I’m styling these Ab-Solution white jeans from Wit & Wisdom. Love them!

White platform sandals elevate the look just a bit.
With Jeans and Sneakers
Dark skinny jeans provide a nice contrast with this top. My husband saw this as we were walking through Target and pointed out how great it would look with dark jeans or shorts. Wasn’t he right on? Red is always a great color and in a tropical tee, it can really pop. The white sneakers give it a fun, laid-back look.

As the back is slightly indented, semi-racerback style, you might want to use bra strap clips as I linked above.
Ecco Leather Sneakers (My favorites!)
Wear with Shorts
For this super casual look (barefoot and all!), the tropical print top is a tee. This is a simple way to jazz up a basic shorts and tee outfit. The medium wash shorts are my newest Target acquisition–they are just the right fit without being too tight or short.

You can see that I am truly flaunting my legs. Despite the fact that they are definitely white! Haha! My excuse is that we haven’t had a truly hot day here in SoCal for six months! Highly unusual.
Try it with a Skirt
It’s easy to see how black skirt is a great companion to the black background on this floral top. I wore this outfit to an occasion that was a bit more formal than most and felt quite stylish yet comfortable. These foldover skirts feel like you’re wearing sweats!

Give one of these looks a try, or style the tropical print top you already have a new way. I’m also hoping for some inspiration from all of you! How many ways can YOU style a tropical print top? I look forward to your comments below!

Love how you styled the tropical print top, and particularly the advice you give that encourages us to try tjings – for example, the bra clips. I am often put off from wearing racer back type tops for that very reason. Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday!
Yes, I was, too! But these little things really work. Thanks for the specific comment, Gail, and thanks for sponsoring Wow on Wednesday!
