Can you wear a white denim skirt for work? Absolutely. Of course, it has to be fairly conservative in style, unless your office or place of work is casual enough for a miniskirt or a raw hemmed look. For most of us, however, our clothes need to be fairly professional for the workplace.
A basic white denim skirt with a regular hem in a straight or a-line shape works well. Just like any white basic piece, it’s easy to style, since almost anything goes with white!
Style A White Denim Skirt for Work
Navy and white is always a safe color combination. The contrast creates a crisp, clean line that looks very professional. By adding additional colors or patterns in your accessories, you can keep the look from becoming too basic or boring.
The skirt I’ve chosen is knee-length and on the fairly conservative side which is a good length for my line of work. Of course, you could just as easily style it with lacy cami for a sexier evening look! That’s the beauty of a basic piece like this.

Sergeant, the PhotoBomber!
While gingham is not a hot trend this year, it’s a basic that works well in almost any outfit. Mine is a traditional button-front style shirt. Very cute gingham tops in come in wraps and with all kinds of interesting sleeves designs, but I find this basic shirt-style is a good one to have as it works for so many looks. I styled it LAST spring in the post, Not So Traditional Button-Down Gingham Top with distressed white jeans and silver sandals.
In most workplaces, the dress code is a lot looser in the summer months. Is yours like that? So an unconstructed knit blazer like this one works well. It’s cooler for summer and gives off a slightly more casual vibe. I have these knit blazer in several colors and can wear them for a professional look and casually with jeans and a tee! Gotta love that!
Here are several at affordable prices. The first one is like mine in the “Navy Peacock” color.
In each of my outfits, I added color with my shoes, bags and other accessories.
Two Ways to Style a White Denim Skirt for Work
For the first look, I accessorized in hot pink. I love hot pink with navy! Suede shoes, scarf, and earrings are all in shades of hot pink adding the needed pop to the outfit.
The second look is accessorized with green and yellow. A combination of navy, bright green and yellow is a classic one that always works. My yellow espadrille wedges are old. Don’t you love a unique handbag? This one was purchased for me by my husband on our trip to Budapest, and he bought me the super cute braided necklace some time ago in Paris.

You can see it’s easy to style a white denim skirt for work. All of the pieces I’m styling today are basics from my closet and accessories I’ve collected over the years. A safe bet is to pull out a white skirt or slacks and glance around your closet to see what pops out. Then add a third color–and even a fourth!–to add some pop to your outfit. The pop can come from shoes, a scarf, in your top, a hat, or even your jewelry.

Thanks, Jacqui. It’s fun to take a basic outfit and add pops of color, isn’t it?
