Even though it’s January, it’s not too early to add a little spring into your look. Which means busting out those pastels in your closet! There is no better way to lighten your mood and outfit during the cold months than by styling a winter pastel outfit.
Soft colors hues make the cold, dark days of winter much more bearable. And everyone has pastels in their wardrobe!
The Winter Pastel Outfit
Styling a simple pastel coat over basics like navy and black is an easy way to add softness to a winter outfit. A pastel coat over jeans and a cream or white sweater adds instant style to an otherwise boring winter look.
The Pastel Lilac Coat
I first styled this coat almost a year ago in the post Fun Color Combo: Lilac and Navy Outfit. While I love the contrast in the navy and lilac combination, I wanted to try some other shades with the lilac-colored coat. Here is the lilac coat styled with navy:
The coat is a find from last year during a Chico’s sale. Interestingly, there are a number of similar lilac coats available out there right now. How great is that?! This wool-blend car coat is very similar if a bit heavier, as is this lilac cocoon coat from Everlane.
Here are some more beautiful lilac coats, in case you want to add a little of this beautiful pastel color to your winter!
For today’s look, I’m styling the lilac coat with olive-green ankle pants. and a mint and lilac floral blouse. This blouse is from Stitch Fix and came in a fix over a year ago. The brand is Kut from the Kloth: here is a similar cream floral blouse and a rose and indigo floral top, and this lilac on navy floral blouse. Any of these tops look amazing with a pastel lilac coat.
I know you won’t be surprised to learn that the olive ankle pants are from Wit & Wisdom. Lol! Do you know how it is when you find a brand that fits you? You tend to pick them up in more than one color, right? I also have them in pale pink and this olive color, as well as their indigo Itty Bitty Bootcut Jeans and black skinny jeans.
I added a little bling with a stretch bracelet and earrings from Chicos. The long-chain necklace comes from Talbots, on sale. Here is a similar chain-link necklace. An inexpensive silver belt completes the look.
I love any excuse to roll out my lilac suede slingbacks. These were purchased a few years ago from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Can you say, love? I found these similar lilac slingback pumps here. This shade is hard to find so if you like these, pick up a pair soon.
A lilac coat like this is a simple way to add a little spring into your step, but you can just take a small step to accomplish the same thing. Try a pastel clutch and matching sweater for a subtle pastel pop. Or try a scarf and beanie. Any way you style it, a touch of pastel in your outfit is a beautiful way to get through the cold winter months.
