Sweatpants for the holidays? Yes, when you find a cute pair like these. Sweatpants and joggers have become versatile workhorses in our wardrobes, especially during the COVID crisis. But staying home–except for that momentous trip to the grocery store!–doesn’t mean you have to dress boring.
Comfort is key as we all know, but most of us are NOT willing to give up on style. When the virus first broke out, back in March, I think it’s fair to say that most of us didn’t know how to dress. In many cases, we didn’t quite know how to deal with this big change in our lifestyles. But we adapted, we made changes, we slowed down, and over time we learned how to make slightly more stylish outfits with our sweatpants, joggers, and leggings. Am I right?
The Cheetah Sweatpants
So, when I “spotted” these cheetah printed sweatpants, I was all in. Comfy and fun printed sweatpants are a super-easy way to update your style while still staying in the comfy zone.
As many of you know, Lou and Grey has a whole line of these Signaturesoft garments, and many are exclusive to Loft. So you can pick up some good casual pieces during one of their sales! While this particular pair is limited in available sizes, due to the many sales that folks are taking advantage of, there are still lots of animal print sweatpants and joggers you can pick up. Here are some examples:
A note about fit: The Lou and Grey pants run more like a slim-leg style than a full sweatpant. The same is true of most jogger-style pants. Be prepared for a more fitted look, or size up for the traditional fuller and looser style.
How to Style Sweatpants for the Holidays
First, I shared a “no-duh” look for these cheetah sweatpants. Sweats, a solid sweatshirt, and sneakers? Right. No-duh. We’ve all done that. But these printed pants make that look just a little bit on the cuter side, don’t you think? Perfect for holiday shopping on the sofa. Or watching a Christmas movie!
Secondly, I’ve added a red denim jacket, just because it’s December, and that’s the popular color palette for this season. But a blue denim jacket would also work. Or your favorite cozy puffer jacket.
The third look adds a little more style with the addition of the sweater. A vee-neck is always flattering, and this inexpensive version in red adds the holiday touch. I mean, don’t we all add a little red to be a little more festive at this time of year?
The red pullover sweater comes in six colors. It’s cut at the hip which works well with these looser-fitting sweatpants. I tried a tunic, which was OK, but I look better, as most of us do, with a more fitted top with looser pants, and vice versa.
If you are taller, you could definitely try a tunic. Hot pink looks super cute with animal print sweatpants or joggers!
In all outfits, these wedge sneakers also take things up a notch. You may have noticed that I have three versions of this shoe in black, gray, and tan. I love the comfort and the added height! With all the amazing sales, they are becoming limited in sizes, so here are some that show some availability in a variety of colors and styles (including navy!):
OK, this is another one of those never-say-never disclaimers. You may have noticed the gray lace one under my sweater. As a C cup bra wearer, I generally need more support so I thought I was not a candidate for a bralette.
Surprise! They can actually be fairly supportive and feel really comfortable under a casual sweatshirt or tee. Granted, I would probably not wear one out unless it was under a jacket, but for around the house comfort, a bralette is a nice choice.
This bralette is very inexpensive and comes in gray and black. Give it a try and tell me what you think!
Moral of the story? Even though this season will be a bit more casual than most, we can still style it up for a festive look, even with sweatpants for the holidays!
