Do you have some latitude in styling your workwear? Are you looking for something to change-up the same-old, same-old? How about a pair of wide leg crop pants for work?
Since my blogger journey has been to break out of a long rut of suits and dresses for professional wear, I am always on the look-out for a way to style my wardrobe. And while I am still working in the same business environment, I’m finding some fun and creative ways to still look professional, yet add some creativity to my style. And since I know that many of you work in professional jobs, or just want a cute, professional outfit, I am always on the look-out for ideas. These wide leg crops pants do just that.
The wide leg crop pants
Surprised by how flattering and stylish wide leg crop pants can be, I shared some cute linen ones in this post. You may remember that I thought they wouldn’t work for me, that they would overpower my short frame and make me look frumpy. Was I surprised when that was not the case! In fact, I’ve styled those linen wide leg pants a number of ways and always receive lots of compliments. So when I saw this version online, I thought, why not try them for a work outfit?
What I especially like about these pants is that they are a bit fitted through the hip and thigh which does away with all the fabric that you find in some wide-leg pants. They also have a bit of a higher waist, which is always flattering.
The fabric on these wide leg crop pants is crepe so the weight is a good one for fall and even for winter. If you work in an air-conditioned office, this fabric would be just right any time of year. And they come in four great fall colors as well as petite and regular sizes.
The “crop” of these pants gives it that edge that makes them interesting. When it’s too warm out this fall for long pants, these will work. They will also work for fall and winter. You could add boots or booties with tights or leggings to transition them into the cooler months.
Yes, this is my totally posed shot! My husband has been making suggestions for posing for shots and we had some fun with this one!
And now, about that cardigan…
The Cardigan
Now, this cardigan is so fabulous, it could have been the subject of a post all on its own! But I knew it would look amazing with these wide-leg crop pants.
Paisley-woven back cardigan (get it now for 40% off!)
Can you guess where this cardigan came from? If you’ve done any shopping at Chico’s, you would recognize the brand. I don’t know about you, but I love most any cardigan and when I can find one like this that stands out from the crowd (or the normal), I grab it quickly to put in my closet. And the woven paisley fabric on the back is so striking against the navy blue, don’t you think?
With the rich oranges, burgundy, greens, and blues, it is the perfect sweater for fall. Wouldn’t it look amazing with jeans and booties? Oh, yeah. Look for a future post styling this another way.
Animal print shoe
For a professional look, I am styling the outfit with basic kitten heels. Animal print is always in style, but, as they say, it is having a BIG moment right now! Animal prints are absolutely the new neutral, and I love the play of the print in the shoes with the paisley in the sweater. A gentle example of pattern mixing that works. Here is a similar pair on sale. A nice neutral suede bootie also works well, depending on the standard at your work. Here is a suggestion.
Are you in?
So, what do you think? Are you ready to give wide-leg crop pants a try? Honestly, you will be surprised at how flattering they look, regardless of your body type. The cropped length is what makes the difference! I would love to hear what you think!

Hi Ruth,
Thank you so much! I am loving them, too! Especially this pair that are a bit more fitted at the hip and thigh as they don’t look too full on my short frame. It’s a nice change from skinnies, isn’t it? I appreciate your nice comments.
Have a lovely day,
xx Darlene
Stunning jacket, I love the detail. I like wide leg trousers and they make such a change from skinnies and skirts. Jacqui Mummabstylish
Jacqui,
The wide leg pants are such a nice change, aren’t they? I thought they might make me look short and stumpy, and I am pleasantly surprised! Thanks for sponsoring the Link Up.
