Even though it’s September, we are at that time of year when the days are still long and hot. Fall clothing is out there, in the stores that are open and definitely online. So what to wear? And what to buy? It’s time to pick up pieces with an eye to styling them in various ways. With that in mind, I’m sharing an idea for how to transition a ruffle hem dress outfit from summer through fall and on into winter.
How to Transition a Ruffle Hem Dress Outfit
The Ruffle Hem Dress Outfit
This is a relaxed, loose-fitting dress. It’s inexpensive and simply styled with short sleeves and a V-neck. Just the kind of style that can be worked so many ways. And in a leopard print, you can’t go wrong!
The dress also comes in coral. The polyester fabric is easy-care and can be machine washed and dried. Gotta love that!
There is a similar long-sleeve leopard dress from Nordstrom that is very cute!
For Late Summer
The lightweight fabric in this dress makes it perfect for a warm day. Paired with sandals and a woven bag, you’re ready to go for a casual outing or even running errands on a warm day. (With matching mask, of course! 😜)
Keep it simple with hoop earrings and a wrap bracelet.
Styled for Early Fall
When the kids go back to school–albeit with new configurations–and the air has the slight bit of coolness, you know fall is here! While the days can still be warm, the mornings often start out cool and the afternoons cool down quickly.
Just by adding a belt and booties, the ruffle hem dress outfit takes on a whole new look. An easy denim jacket is perfect for those quirky fall changes in temperature. And it always looks right!
Mid-Fall Through Winter Style
When the weather turns decidedly cold, you don’t always have to run out and buy a whole new wardrobe. Take a look at pieces you already have, like this ruffle hem dress, and repurpose it by adding some warm elements.
Over-the-knee boots were a big trend a few years ago and the trend has continued. If OTK boots are not for you, you can also wear knee-high boots, which are very popular this fall. Just add tights for warmth, if needed.
Depending on just how cold “winter” is where you live, you can add almost any coat of your choice. Of course, a leather moto jacket is always a hot look. If it’s super cold, a soft teddy coat or puffy coat would also look cute. Here I’ve styled my favorite leather moto jacket.
So as you’re thinking about what to wear today on a warm day with fall just around the corner, plan ahead. Think about how you can pair a piece today with a fall jacket and booties in early fall and with boots and a coat when the weather turns cold. By planning ahead, and using pieces you already have in your closet, you can easily transition your wardrobe from summer to fall.
