Have you ever wondered how to wear cuffed jeans? Cuffed jeans are a simple way to make yourself look stylish without much effort. With cuffs, you can change the way pair of jeans looks entirely simply by adding a cuff to the hem of your jeans.
For today, I am showing a pair of cuffed jeans that you can wear this weekend! Just add an all-purpose white tee and some colorful sneakers–or trainers as my lovely UK friends call them!–and you can run errands, go to lunch, or do some spring shopping.
How to Wear Cuffed Jeans
Depending on the shoe you wear them with, you can create a casual weekend outfit or instantly dress them up with simple strappy sandals.
My straight jeans came with the cuff already turned up and sewn into place. I love the look of cuffed jeans and wanted a pair right away, but you can easily create a pair with jeans already in your closet.
Here are some tips to make your own cuffed jeans:
- Cuff skinnier jeans with a single-roll cuff to keep a sleek silhouette.
- Try wider cuffs on jeans with a slight bootcut–they make great capris with thong sandals.
- Experiment with skinny cuffs with boyfriend jeans and heels.
The Outfit
We all know that fit is the most important detail to look for in jeans. I decided a long time ago to not be fickle about the size number as sizing of jeans can vary by the same manufacturer or designer depending on the style. For example, for me, Loft jeans tend to shimmy down my hips in my regular size, so I always try their curvy fit and generally have better luck. These cuffed jeans come in regular and petite with the curvy option for both.
This is an older tee from Shein. I like the high-low hem and a quarter tuck in front gives them a nice look. You’ll notice, however, that my tuck un-tucked in some of the photos and my photographer husband failed to notice!! Lol!
These colorful sneakers are my newest footwear acquisition. Are you jumping on the sneaker bandwagon yet? I love the comfort and can get a lot more done on a day of running errands if I’m wearing a comfy shoe, so these work. The colors and design grabbed my attention and the Nike air sole provides the comfort.
Finally, the bag. On a recent trip to Sacramento for a meeting, I had time to kill in the airport. My former co-workers and I used to frequent the Brighton shop there and I did so on this trip. And guess what? I came away with this adorable straw tote bag. It will be a great summer bag and holds lots of my stuff. And the quality of their bags is always good, so I will have it for many years to come.
Shopping, Lunching and Sightseeing in SJC
Speaking of shopping, today’s photo shoot took place in San Juan Capistrano, the home of Mission San Juan Capistrano. This is the 7th mission in the chain founded by Jesuit priests in the 1700’s–right around the time of the American Revolution. I remember telling my fifth-grade students that fact when I was teaching, and they were so surprised this was going on concurrently!
Mission San Juan Capistrano is known for the swallows that return there every March after traveling 6000 miles from Goya, Argentina. San Juan Capistrano is an equestrian town and the annual Swallow’s Day Parade features horses and riders as well as families that have lived in the area for over 200 years.
Notice the train and tracks that run through SJC. This spot served as the location for an earlier post, Split Hem Jeans and Floral Top.
So, on this bright and sunny spring day, a visit to this nearby town was in order. And a casual outfit with cuffed jeans was the perfect look.

Ah, I remember the countdown to the end of the school year all too well! I’ve only been somewhat out of it (I’m still consulting) for the last two 1/2 years. I know you will be ready for things that are both comfy and stylish! Thanks, Mireille.

I always love a high low hem line. And jeans and a white tee is such a classic perfect combination. Love the backdrop too!
Thanks, Nancy. I’m trying to find new places to take photos, but it’s hard to carry all your blogging stuff for any long distance!
