Welcome to Day 2 of my 5 Days of How to Style Color!
The title is a bit misleading, especially this winter when we are making up for five years of drought! However, I want to share with all of you how I continue to inject color into my wardrobe even when it’s dark and drizzly, like today.
Yesterday I shared one of my favorite colors with my spring green coat and today is another favorite–bright yellow! I have lots of color in my closet and have been known to add a pop of yellow to suits, with skirts, a blouse and now a great sweater!
This sweater and shirt are from Lands End. I absolutely love their all-cotton sweaters which come in a variety of colors. These are actually machine washable–you just have to lay them out and block them a bit to dry. The cotton is very soft and holds its color really well, so I expect to get many seasons of wear out of this sweater.
The shirt is a no- 0r little-iron fabric. I’ve noticed I haven’t really updated my collared shirts in some time, so am very happy with the purchase. I love the white background covered in yellow flowers with a touch of navy. So versatile!
I am also styling my ripped jeans from Articles of Society. As I said before, I have come a bit late to the ripped jeans trend, but I am really liking these!
The leather cross-body bag is one you have seen before–a one-of-a-kind bag from a trip to Budapest. I love the three color combo–navy, yellow and green–and can wear this bag with SO many things.
I went a little blingy on the jewelry with rhinestones in my necklace and earrings. I also added three different bracelets with silver and different yellow tones. They are just for fun!
I am styling my newest slip-on loafer-styled shoes. They are the Flex brand and I got them from Nordstrom. They come in many colors, but I chose the dark silver as I know it is such a great neutral. They are totally comfortable! A bit pricey, but good shoes are a smart purchase and will last a long time.
So, how do you like my yellow-in-the-winter look? In colder climates, of course, you could add black boots and a warm coat and it would look great with the pop of yellow from the sweater.
It would be so great if you could click on any of the buttons below to let me know if you like this post.
Stay tuned tomorrow from another version of styling color!
Warmly,
Darlene
