Are you a fan of skirts or dresses? Or both?! Today, I’m styling a super cute knit pencil skirt in black, red and white. A color combination that is so easy to style.
Fall styling can be challenging with the changes in the weather from day-to-day. We had a typical fall heat wave last week and are now back in the 70’s, which is typical for this time of year. But we do need to prepare for whatever Mother Nature sends our way, right? A basic like this skirt makes this transition time a lot easier to dress for. You can style it one day with a tee and sandals, for an evening with heels and a pretty blouse and coat, and for a cool day, with boots and a sweater. Of course, a skirt is also the backbone of your work wardrobe as it is so easy to add heels and a blazer. You really can’t go wrong.
The knit pencil skirt outfit
The pull-on style skirt has really been gaining traction in recent years. There is good reason for that: the knit fabric is comfortable to wear and has a high, flattering waistband, making it a snap to pull it on in the morning. Which, in the winter, is often in the dark! The knit pencil skirt comes in three patterns, and regular and petite. It’s a great buy!
The color combination of this knit pencil skirt is such a classic. Who can’t find something in their closet that goes with black, red and white? When in doubt, a white top is a great choice. Same for black. Or maybe red? Haha! The possibilities are endless. Or at least many.
For this knit pencil skirt outfit, I’m styling the skirt with a black crewneck sweater that also came with my Trunk Club. It’s actually just a tad warm for our weather so I probably won’t be keeping it, but it’s a nice classic style to wear with a skirt. It’s a lightweight wool in a high/low style that comes in 6 colors and is moderately priced. If you are one of my Midwest or Eastern friends, I know you are having a bit of cold right now. I spoke with a gal in Massachusetts today, and she said it was very cold there.
The skirt would also look great with a turtleneck or with a cool poncho like the one I styled in this post.
Since this is a classic look, I kept the jewelry simple: gold hoop earrings and a fun necklace with a bit of sparkle.
The red suede flats
Ok, how many of you are flat shoe fans? To be honest, the only flat shoes I typically go for are for very casual occasions: sneakers, flat sandals, Mary Janes, and such. I have rarely worn them with a skirt outfit. That is, until I saw and tried these red suede flats! First of all, I love the color. Always a sucker for red shoes. What IS IT about red shoes?? Do you like them as much as I do? These flats come in 8 colors and are just under $50. Another great buy!
For once, I actually liked the feel of these flats–they fit well and are totally comfy. And the pointed toe gives them a little style, too. I especially like the red with the fabric in the skirt. And flats look surprising cute with the longer length of this knit pencil skirt.
So, I guess I am on a flat shoe roll! I loved the foldable leopard ones I wrote about in this post, too!
Thanks for stopping by today and spending a little time with me. If you haven’t yet, try some fun flats with a cute knit pencil skirt.!
You look fabulous Darlene, I love black and red together. I reckon you could also wear some cute ankle booties with this too. Thanks for sharing on #chicandstylish, see you again. Jacqui Mummabstylish
Thanks so much, Jacqui! Yes, ankle booties would look great! So would boots, right? I love participating in your Link Up to see what you and all the ladies are styling–so fun!
