OK, time is really flying by, isn’t it? I can’t believe it’s time (or past time) to put together a 4th of July outfit. Fortunately, it’s fairly easy to do: just pull out anything red, white, or blue!
How are you celebrating our nation’s birth? Are you hosting a celebration for the fourth? Or headed to the beach? Maybe just kicking back at home to watch the fireworks? Regardless of HOW and WHERE we celebrate, I doubt there is anyone who doesn’t at least wear “the colors.” Am I right?
As our 4th celebration will be super casual–as always!–a comfy look will serve me best. It won’t be necessary to go shopping as I have plenty of pieces I can style to create a patriotic look. So I thought I’d share some of my past patriotic outfits, just in case you need a little inspiration.
Last Minute 4th of July Outfit Ideas
Sweatshirt and Shorts
This USA sweatshirt is SO cute you may want to pick one up to wear all the time. I got it in white last year and this year it comes in light blue, navy, and grey, too! It is so soft and cozy–I will definitely be throwing it on in the evening as it gets chilly here along the coast even in the summer!
I wanted it big and loose, so I bought it in a Medium. I could have also worn my usual size small. Love it!

Tee and Shorts Outfit Inspo
A nautical look has a lot in common with patriotic style. White and blue with touches of red (as in sailor pants, a white tee, and a red neckerchief) is associated with naval style, just as it is for patriotic holidays. Only here, on the fourth, we flaunt the red, white, and blue from our flag.
In that vein, I’m showing a recent nautical look that works well for this holiday! I’ll bet you have something similar in your closet!
Kimono and Jeans Outfit
Since really, anything goes in the red, white, and blue department, you can style any red top with navy or denim shorts and look perfectly styled for this holiday! So, I just had to share this kimono outfit as an option. To make it more casual, you could wear the kimono over denim shorts and a white tee, or a navy tee and white shorts.
Shredded Jeans and Top
I just had to share this idea! Do you have an old pair of “fun” jeans in your closet? I styled these shredded hem jeans and top a few years ago and I still love them! So retro! A stylish white top always looks fabulous with jeans. To give it a bit more spirit for the 4th, just add red accessories. So fun. And easy!
Red Top and White Shorts for the 4th of July
Here’s a VERY basic look: white shorts and a red top with denim sandals. Of course, any combination of this makes an easy yet festive outfit for any celebration on the 4th!
And hey, the list goes on! It’s super simple to create a perfect look to honor our nation’s history on the 4th of July! Any combination of red, white, and blue looks great together. Experiment to find just the right pieces that work for you and that makes you look both comfy and patriotic. Go USA!
