What to wear on a cool fall day? Keep stylishly warm with this lightweight Poncho Sweater from Target’s A New Day clothing line. A poncho is a great layering choice and punches up any basic outfit. It’s also the perfect wrap for a cool, breezy fall day!
Last Christmas my lovely son bought me a cute fleece-lined poncho (see the post (Cozy Ugg Outfit for the First Week of Winter) that I use often: for outside dining (which is the MO at this time!), lounging at home, and walking the doggies in the cool morning temps. So comfy!
A turtleneck poncho can also dress up a basic look, as shown in the post Poncho Sweater Outfit for Fall. (That was last year at this time–time flies. Well, until this year, anyway!)
You can see that ponchos are a great way to add style and warmth and can generate lots of different looks with pieces you already have!
Now to this lightweight poncho…
The Lightweight Poncho Outfit
This long-sleeve poncho sweater makes a fashionable, lightweight, and comfortable layering choice for cooler days. Styled with a V-neck, it features a relaxed flowing shape with deep slits at the sides for easy movement, along with a knitted design for a cozy finish.
The rich burgundy color allows for easy coordination to any ensemble, while the pullover style makes for quick and easy wear. Slip it over your seasonal separates for a stylish way to beat the chill.
I first spotted this lightweight poncho in marble green on the blog, Coast to Coast. Lisa, the blogger, is the master of affordable finds that are super cute! It’s also available in black and walnut heather. It’s popular, so if you like it, order it right away.
The neck scarf added a little pattern interest. It’s one of many cute small square scarves from Madewell. Adding a little scarf is an easy way to tie things together in an outfit.
As a poncho gives off a bit of a boho vibe, my itty-bitty bootcuts were an obvious choice. I thought I’d sworn off bootcut jeans with my short stature, but these have changed my mind! You first saw them last year in the post, Black Sweater Outfit for Winter. The slight boot cut fit is super flattering on every proportion.
Slouch booties in a rusty shade with a low heel keep the look casual. These are by Vionic; the arch support makes them super comfortable for all-day wear!
Wrap bracelets are super popular this year, and this double wrap in leopard print on leather is the perfect touch to almost any outfit. Like me, I imagine you reach for leopard accessories frequently, especially now that we realize their value as a neutral pattern.
The last piece is this fun tote. I picked it up some time ago. I just could not resist the snake print with burgundy and mustard shades! Of course, you could also style this lightweight poncho with the canvas animal print tote I shared in the post, Add Some Color With a Periwinkle Sweater. Totes in various colors and patterns are an easy way to add contrast to an outfit, while also being relatively inexpensive and big enough to “tote” all your stuff!
Here is a similar snakeskin tote in brown tones.
A re-hued lip color added the final touch for this rich-hued poncho outfit. Mine is Confident, a red-gold blend, by Color My World Lipsticks. You can try a tube and get $5 off right now. I think you’ll like this brand!
