We are off today! We will be going through Frankfurt, Germany, en route to Venice, and I just found out our connecting flight to Venice has been canceled!! Yikes! So we may be staying longer in Germany than we planned. Since it is fairly cold there and in Venice, I am wearing clothes that are comfortable but warm, and am layering my pieces so I can be comfortable.
Layering the outfit
So, how am I layering? I am wearing grey leggings and a long hooded sweater (see it below) that I actually picked up at CostCo. Yes, CostCo!! Every now and then, you can find a nice piece there and of course, it’s pretty inexpensive but of decent quality.

Departing from LAX
My tunic top is from J. Jill and is super soft and comfortable. My scarf is lightweight but made of wool, also from J. Jill, so I can drape that over my shoulders as well.
The booties I am wearing were a great find! They are called Cloud Steppers by Clarks; I purchased them at Macy’s when they had 30% off. They are super lightweight with great support, so perfect for running through the airport and keeping my feet warm, too! A great tip I picked up is to wear compression socks during the flight, so I bought a pair from Travelsmith that are made of cotton and nylon. I can wash them out and they will dry pretty quickly.
The trip
We were rerouted and had to connect through to London Heathrow instead of directly to Venice, so added 8 hours to our travel time! Ugh! At Heathrow, we got to check out the Harrods store. You’ve got to love Harrods! Here is a picture showing my grey hooded sweater from CostCo, and one with my Clarks booties. (Kind of looks like a much pricier sweater I liked from Talbots!)
I sm so glad that I layered for this trip. By adding layers of clothes, I was able to stay warm on the plane and remove my sweater and scarf when it got warm in the airport. This is the most important tip for travelers!

Finally arrived, via water taxi, at our hotel in Venice. We stayed at the same place we stayed on our original visit. A beautiful little hotel off the beaten path–the Hotel Giorgione. More about that in my next travel post!
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I will continue to keep you updated on my trip and how I styled various outfits from some basic pieces.
Happy travels!
