Let’s face it. We all do it. Especially if we’re smart. And wise about stretching our dollars. I’m referring to how we all mix and match pieces in your closet, of course. It’s always a smart thing to go through our closets and take inventory. You will find many mix-and-match outfit ideas for spring! And now is the time to do it! We all have a bit of time on our hands at this moment, am I right?
Go through your jeans inventory. Any old, out-of-style (if there is such a thing!) pairs that you no longer wear? Once we are able to donate clothing, I’m sure your gently worn discards could be someone else’s treasured piece. The same is true of black pants. We all have a LOT of those, I imagine. But which ones do we really wear? Same for tops, tees, dresses, and skirts.
But once you have your items paired down, it’s easy to see what might go together. Which pieces would look great together that you’ve not noticed before? In this post, I’m sharing some ideas to mix and match outfits for spring, using what’s in your closet as well as sharing some pieces you could add to freshen your spring wardrobe.
Mix and Match Outfit Ideas for Spring
That Floral Midi Skirt
As a skirt lover, I picked up this pull-on midi skirt a while ago. The possibilities for mixing and matching this skirt are endless. And hey, it’s still available, only now it’s 60% off! This is truly a great time to pick up some new pieces with all the amazing sales. The time will come when we will all emerge from our homes and let’s do it stylishly, shall we?
Here, I’ve styled it in a basic way with a white tee and a denim jacket. It’s a classic casual look that always works and can be worn for almost any occasion just by varying the accessories. There are lots of ways I can mix and match these pieces to come up with lots of great outfits! I could see this skirt with a red or yellow top or even hot pink with flat sandals for a super cute summer look. Maybe for that next cruise or warm weather vacation!
Since I love red shoes, I decided to make them the focal point for this outfit! The lower heel is both cute and casual.

Wide Leg Jeans
You saw these jeans recently in the post, Wide Leg Jeans and Tops for Easy Style. I restyled them here with a Rugby sweater I shared some time ago in the post Rugby Style Stripe Sweater Outfit for Work.
I added my faux moto jacket, an older piece from Stitch Fix. Still waiting for that consistently warm, sunny weather here!! What’s it like where you live?
These neutral colored jeans are easy to work with. Here are some mix and match ideas for outfits styled around these pants:
It can actually be lots of fun to play with what we already have in our closets. And it definitely makes it easier to avoid binge shopping. Have you ever come home with something you were just sure you needed, only to find that you already have something very similar? It’s actually quite common. So inventorying your closet can truly save you time in the long run.
What are your mix and match outfit ideas this spring? Which basic pieces can you shift around to form lots of new looks? By taking this step, you will easily and quickly find out what you do need to add to your closet to update your wardrobe.
Happy closet shopping!
