Have you tried any of the online styling services? It’s an easy way to try personalized and stylish clothing in the convenience of your own bedroom. I have been sharing my experiences with Stitch Fix for a while and heard about a newer stylist service from Nordstrom called Trunk Club. I thought I would give it a try and share my experience with all of you.
Trunk Club online stylist service
In working with the stylist, I had some challenges in defining “my” style. Before I “retired” I would have said business or business casual or something along that line, but I have definitely branched out–especially after starting my blog! I told her that I was really only interested in different styles of jeans as I currently am pretty stocked up! So she sent me a selection with the intention that I try several brands and types in order to nail down my preferences. As a result, my first box is not all that fabulous! I anticipate that, over time, this will improve.
Here you can see the various colors and patterns included. Sergeant was very curious…and confused! lol!
My Trunk Club styles
Following are the various jeans and tops that she included. Note that the jeans are all designer styles, which means they are pricier. All are great quality, however.
The first top is a pleated sweatshirt by Chelsea28. It looks cuter on that I expected as it defines my waist which I need. The jeans are Zooey by Hudson and would probably look great on a taller frame! Even with heels, I’m afraid these would be too long.
The next photo shows the same jeans and a cute tie-front top by Halogen. It’s very cute and could be dressed up or down. The sleeves have a three-quarter bell sleeve.
I mentioned that I love yellow to my stylist. She sent this chiffon top (by Chelsea28) with beautiful batwing The jeans pictured here are the Le High by FRAME and I LOVE the fit. They have a nice stretch and a higher waist. There is a step-hem at the bottom which is nice but a bit long for me. I would need to wear shoes or booties with higher heels.
At first, I wasn’t even going to try on this aqua top as I don’t really care for jewelry on my tops. But the color is so nice I decided to try it. It is very simply done and I actually do like the fit very much. Surprise! This is why it’s so great to have somebody else pick out clothing for us–you never know what you might like unless you step out of your comfort zone! It is Michael Kor’s Mix Media Chain Top. The black jeans are by GRLFRND and have a nice fit, but they are meant to be CROPPED!! Unfortunately, not on me! If you are a bit taller, you might like the stretch in these.
In the next photo, you can once again see the very nice FRAME jeans with a printed popover top by Hinge. It is a nice lightweight fabric that feels very soft next to your skin.
My fav jeans
For this last pair of jeans, I had to try them on more than once. The first time, I said, “No way!” The second time they grew on me and I think I will purchase them! They are sort of 60’s jeans in reverse! Haha! They are the LeNouveau by FRAME. They have a great fit and I like the front seams as they are slimming! (Though they may not look that way in this photo, shot from above with NO shoes for height! Yikes!) The pink peony ruffle neck sweater is a classic style from J.Crew who always makes nice things.
Whew!! It was lots of fun trying on all these pieces. I imagine my stylist and I will get more in sync over time. I hope you had as much fun as I did!
If you like the convenience and ease of shopping and trying things on at home, or dislike spending all that time at the mall, or your work schedule is just too demanding, then this type of online stylist service might be for you. Give it a try!
In my next post, I will share two dresses: one from Stitch Fix and one from Trunk Club. I’ll also discuss some of the pros and cons of the two services. Be sure to check it out!
Are you registered for my email reminders to let you know when a post goes live? I’d certainly love it if you’d take the time to sign up. And make sure all your friends sign up too!!
